This church, the Cathedral of Our Dear Lady in Munich (or the Frauenkirche), is a standing metaphor for the power of our Mother Mary. .
The legend goes that the Devil had made a deal with the architect of the church. The enemy wanted the church to be windowless so that it would be a church of darkness. The clever architect knew that the Devil couldn’t enter the consecrated church and hid all of the windows behind pillars so that he couldn’t see them from where he had to stand.
Finally, they installed the final window in the back. When the Devil learned that he had been tricked, he stomped his foot, leaving a black mark on the floor. He rushed outside in a fit of anger, causing the wind to kick up and blow restlessly around the church as it still does today. .
I view the window at the back to be our Mother Mary. She is the window that let’s God’s graces shine through onto our lives, even when we can’t seem to feel his other graces there. The pillars of life will block out God’s voice, but Mary lets his light shine upon us through her son Jesus Christ. at Munich Frauenkirche
