I am so lucky. I get to have so much fun with this sweet boy. This morning he woke me up by swinging a wipe in my face. I was so tired, but he managed to get a smile out of me. My mom and I had a date at the park this afternoon. We ate some delicious sandwiches and watched Benjamin run around in the splash pad. I loved watching him interact with the other kids. I just want to hug him when I see small gestures of kindness, like helping a girl up and showing some concern. Yall I love him so much. Not So Good Morning ⁣ ⁣ Ask anyone close to me and they will affirm that I am not a morning person. As long as I can remember, my relationship with my morning routine has been like oil and water. We just don’t mix.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I reluctantly roll out of bed on those very early mornings while trying to have a cheerful and grateful heart and to be honest, I am usually grouchy, silent on purpose, and still sleepy!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I am (fully) functional at around 10 o’clock in the morning. This means I am dressed from head to toe, applied a little makeup, eaten my breakfast with coffee or tea, prayed up, and at my desk ready to work, already out the house to drop my girls off on preschool days, or off to run errands.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I can testify that if I do not have some type of devotion and/or prayer in the morning, the rest of my day is at risk of me being less than stellar in operating in grace, compassion, patience, and love (Psalm 145:8). I know for a fact that starting my day with God’s Word and prayer enhances my morning as well as prepares me for what the day holds.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I have read many articles on how to “make” myself a morning person; but in this season of my life, I am learning to give myself some grace, which is why I am so glad that Kat Lee of the #hellomornings community wrote her book on how to build a grace-filled, life-giving morning routine.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I know I need all the tips on enhancing my morning routine and you may need the same. During that period, the first things I’d drop to save time were self care activities- sleeping, working out, and eating well.* * * * Fast forward to today, managing 6 kids facing their last day of school after a successful year and managing 2 businesses. Yes there is overwhelm and fatigue (lets be real, that’s a lot 😝), and maybe not as much sleep as needed, lol. #strongisthenewskinny .... is a mindset that’s taken me a long time to develop. . Yesterday I thought I would try something I attempted a couple months back but was not successful! . I’ve never been able to do a headstand unless up against a wall... well maybe in 5th grade I did? 🤷🏻‍♀️ But even then not like I did here!! I held that baby for what felt like a long time until I finally decided it was time to rollout of it... which I’m paying for today thanks to my old age 😜 . It is so easy to get caught up in chasing a number in order for us to think that what we are doing “is working”, trust me did it for YEARS, but no number will ever give me the FEELING that I had while testing out my strength and hearing Drake say, “Do it again!” #momstrong . Sometimes when you don’t feel like you are making progress you really are but it may be in other areas than where you are looking. I share this not to brag but to show you that you are NEVER too old to do do something you didn’t think was possible. You just have to shift your focus! . I am no different than YOU! Trying to hike this babygirl out 🤰🏼🌲 #41weekspregnant . . I’m past my due date 👶🏼... and we are ready (as we’ll ever be 🙈) to meet our little girl 💕. I’ve had all the pineapple , Spicy food , and sexy time but no sign of labor on the horizon 😅 SO I asked Mando if he wanted to go on a hike with me . Every one said to go for a long walk if you want to kick start labor this far along , well a 2 1/2 hour hike through the woods to the beach sounded nice 😅. But honestly it was more of a workout just to put on my pants and shoes lol . It felt so nice to be out walking around in nature again . It reminded us of our van life hikes we would take on the road 🌲🌲. So excited to bring our little one on our outdoor adventures in the near future . 10 days postpartum 💪 First post-baby workout today! Before anyone FREAKS out, I was cleared by my OB to ease back into regular activity as I felt ready to, because I've been so active throughout my entire pregnancy. Recovery has been pretty easy and fast. I've been getting a little stir crazy and it felt good to get out and move. It was an easy workout of mostly walking with Dakota in the stroller. I hit the rower which I've missed, did some shoulders, tris, and a big emphasis on core and pelvic floor work. I'm in no hurry to "get my body back" or taking any drastic measures to get there. Abs burning time!!🔥🔥This killer set will have you wishing I hadn’t! It will work your arms as well so stretch them out after too! All 4 of these use sliders to do some abs work. Some fitness companies sell sliders. I just got mine at Home Depot. They’re furniture movers/sliders! That way you can either get ones for carpet or hardwood. If you are on a hard surface, your socks will work fine as well! Give these a try and let me know how it goes! (These are not safe for pregnancy or immediate postpartum. Any diastasis recti needs to be healed and your core strong again. If you know you’re healed and strong and you’d like to try them, start with the second video of plank arm slide outs and do it on your knees as modification. Then gradually move up! You can do it! As always, let me know if you have any questions or are concerned.) . 🌷Push Slide Out: (literally just made up this name. Does this have a name??) With your hands on sliders and your knees on the ground, do a push-up with the one arm while the other arm slides out straight in front of you and comes back in on the back up🔥 🌷Plank Arm Slide Outs: starting in plank position with your hands on sliders, slide one arm out straight in front of you and bring it back in. Repeat with other arm. The ONLY thing that should be moving is that one sliding arm! Keep your plank! 🌷Mountain Climbers: with your feet (balls of feet and toes) on sliders, slide your foot on the ground toward your core so your knee is near your stomach/chest, then slide back. Try to keep the rest of your body as still as you can! 🌷Spidermans: with your feet (balls of feet and toes) on sliders, slide your foot on the ground to the side so that your knee comes near the elbow on the same side of your body. In honor of #transformationtuesday When my daughter was 2 (she’ll be 9 next week) I was carrying her up 2 flights of stairs one day and I was so winded I had to stop on the staircase to take a break. I remember so vividly thinking “if I ever had to save her, I would be too weak.”. Soon after that I hired a trainer. I learned as much as I could about my body from my trainer and studied to become a trainer myself to learn more. I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew I needed to start somewhere. Sometimes your children will be the reason you can’t get a single thing done. Sometimes, your children are THE SINGLE reason you need to get moving. She is going back to school to become a CRNA in January. I wanted to skip tonight’s work out. Too many people were going to be there. I’m very self conscious of myself and hate strength training in front of others; I’m slower and not as strong. But I went anyways. I gave it 💯 and you know what my favorite part was? When the buzzer went off at the end and everyone collapsed to the ground sweating and panting. . It didn’t matter if they had no weight on their bar (me) or 100 pounds. It didn’t matter if they did assisted pull ups (me), or nonassisted. It kicked everyone’s ass. And to see everyone struggle with the workout made me smile. Not because we were all slowly dying, but because we were all at different fitness levels and we all found the workout hard. They didn’t look at me and think it was easy for me, and I didn’t look at them and think it was too hard for them. . You are where you are. You can’t compare yourself to a stranger on Instagram or the person next to you at the gym. Just because that person doesn’t look like you or lifts more than you, doesn’t mean they don’t still struggle. It doesn’t mean they aren’t being challenged just as much as you or that they’re still not striving to be a better, stronger, faster version of themselves. Comparison is not only the thief of joy, but it has the potential to hold us back from what we want to do. If you want it, go get it. #unapologeticallyme

11 months old today & already a wee jet setter. ✈️ • She’s full of giggles and so entertaining. She patiently waits for everyone in the room to have looked at her before she will smile back. She’s got the cute little shoulder shrug down, and she’s hit the pretend-to-be-shy stage (when it suits her). It’s all just so adorable. 👶🏻 • I love her so much; truly, madly, deeply. MAY CEMEBER • who else is running around like a mad woman 🙋🏼‍♀️. Why is May so busy? . End of the school year, and we are cramming in all the field trips, teacher appreciation week, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day (oh and we are doing our extended family pictures next week). . Truth is I really didn’t want to drive over 2 hours to spend less than 2 hours on a field trip, in the rain. B U T I did for her. I did it because these moments matter and I’ll never get them back. . The weights will be there, the emails and laundry will be there, the work and money will be there. BUT. She won’t always be here!. . Working nutrition at work! This ramen cup is actually good for you, and tastes wayyyy better than cup of noodles (with those nasty dehydrated veggies and enough sodium for the entire work week!) . LAYER in a quart sized mason jar: 1 cup of your favorite veggies (thin sliced fresh carrots, broccoli florets, onions, radishes...get creative) 1/4 cup frozen corn and/or peas 1/4 cup green onion (use whites and greens) 1 Tbs soy sauce or liquid aminos, optional and not necessary 1 tsp minced garlic 1 Tbs concentrated broth (I used better than boullion) 3/4 cup cooked shredded meat (pork, chicken or beef) 1/2 cup soba noodles, or another ramen-style noodle . Store for up to 5 days. When ready to eat, fill mason jar with boiling water and let sit for 10 minutes. I had to microwave it a few more minutes to get the noodle texture right! . Get ready to promote jealousy in the workplace!
