When breakfast & dinner worlds collide, BREAKFAST TACOS happen! Ever since having breakfast tacos the other morning at Goodonya I’ve been craving them again, so I made these for #tacotuesday 🌮🍳 Of course I added alll the toppings: eggs, @truestoryfoods sausage, black beans, sprouts (courtesy of muah 🙋🏻‍♀️), avocado, & @fixhotsauce lemongrass sriracha. 〰️ Chowed down on these babies right before listening to a webinar with the wonderful Lisa from @thewellnecessities . She spoke so eloquently about calories in vs calories out & why that’s a bunch of B.S. A topic that really resonated with me as I used to use a “calorie tracking” app in college (I was never real serious about it, I would download it on & off here & there, but still who the eff has time for that honestly???) Now my food choices aren’t based on calories or macros but instead based on WHAT I WANT. 💃🏻 When we stop obsessing over food choices (which I realize can be hard to do) it all becomes very clear. We usually crave what our body needs (with the occasional 🍟 + 🍦 thrown in there as well). Our culture has made it almost impossible to think of food that simply, but why we gotta make it so hard on ourselves?! at San Diego, California

I get it; this is a tough one to sit with. So many factors contribute to our views on feeling and expressing difficult emotions (society, culture, gender expectations, family and other relationships, shame etc.) Those factors may tell you to not feel those feelings, or that you’re “weak” for feeling them. However, none of those factors make those difficult emotions any less real. ⁣ ⁣ This post is not an instructional on how to get rid of these emotions, but just to remind you that they are okay to have. It’s okay for you to not always be “on.” It’s okay for you to feel sad, angry, hurt, embarrassed etc., at times. And it’s okay to be authentically in this place, and let other people see it too. It takes bravery and courage to sit with these difficult emotions, and even more intrepidity to let others see your vulnerability. ⁣ ⁣ Despite what those above factors have taught you, being “not okay” does not make you weak, selfish, or unlovable (or any other deprecating adjective). Being “not okay” makes you human. Whew! The energy has been intense lately. Are you feeling it? . In times like this, I tend to get in my head. It feels all swirly and busy. I fall out of flow and I either feel like my energy is jumping around or like I’m trying to muscle through things. . I am not in my zone of genius in these moments. . Over time, I’ve come to recognize that jumpy energy. It can feel really fun and exciting, but it’s not ease or presence or flow. It’s swirl. And it’s a reminder to come back into my body. . Our bodies are wise and grounded and truthy. Our heads, on the other hand, are excitable drama queens. . Our bodies allow flow. Our heads chase stress and anxiety and dopamine hits. . So friends, if you’re feeling the swirl, I invite you to sink back into your body, breathe yourself back into your body, laugh your way back into your body or bench press your way back into your body. We all laugh and smile in the same language.  Many years ago I attended a conference with Dr. Patch Adams and he changed my perspective on laughter. He uses laughter to connect people and heal the world of sorrows.  Laughter, allows for a copious amount of oxygen to the brain and boosts the immune system, among other benefits.  I love sharing the joy of laughter with my nieces and nephews and I love watching fake laughter turn into real giggles.  I section laughter into 3 segments; Haha, Hoho and Hehe.  This is how we begin; Haha: let me hear your loudest Haha and your softest Haha.  Throw your hands up and yell Haha and bring your hands down, whispering Haha.  Adding body movements to laughter, makes the body happy and the mind happy.  Hoho: grab your belly and laugh like Santa, Ho ho ho....repeat this 3 times for extra giggles.  Hehe: monkey laughter is my favorite. Trying to take "just" out of my vocabulary. As in I'm just going to read a book, or I'm just going to lie on the couch, or I'm just going to take a shower... followed by "and then". It corresponds to "just a little". Why can't I say: I'm going to read a book? Full stop. That's the activity. It's not the mini break until the next thing. I'm going to lie on the couch. Full stop. That's what I am going to do. . . . But, you know, that voice insists on my rushing through this task, so I can do the other task. Sssshhhh voice. This IS the activity. Quick fixes. They are so easy to fall for. I know I have. Hook, line and sinker. So alluring. Promising to take away all of my problems. No effort involved on my part. An easy swipe of the card. A payment of $99.99 and all of my dreams will come true. Then reality strikes. Expectations are dashed. My emotions bottom out and I think - “Might as well give up. There is nothing that can fix my problem.” Can you relate? Have you ever purchased anything with the hope it would change your life and then it didn’t? The wellness market is huge. There’s a lot of great people and products. And, sadly, there’s some not-so-great info and products. But just because something didn’t work in the past doesn’t mean you should give up. I’ll let you in on a secret. True health and wellness doesn’t have to be expensive. But it will take time, energy and effort. There's no one-size-fits-all plan. And quick fixes are likely to fail you in the long-term. My goal is to help you along your own, personal health journey. I know. It sounds sort of cliche, but it is true. I want you to be the happiest, healthiest you possible. Let me know what healthy behaviors you are working on. I’m here to support you.

Less than 12 weeks out. As I start to dial in prep for my first marathon in May at the BMO, I keep holding back from wanting to set a time goal as this is my first marathon. Uncharted territory for this guy. However, in my previous races, I have done my best when I work towards a goal time as it’s motivating. However I don’t want to set expectations on something I’m totally new too. So I’ve come to a decision for myself. I’m going to charge into the unknown with a training plan to get me sub 3:30 in the BMO. Boom. Putting it out there, if I achieve it, I’ll be a happy camper and eat some dark chocolate to celebrate. If I don’t hit it, I’ll do the exact same thing. To my fellow runners, what are your race preparations like? Every night after her bath she gets a little time on her IPad to wind down for the night. As I was putting away their laundry I turned around and immediately saw my baby as a teenager. Grown and beautiful with her sweet little space buns. Probably scrolling Pinterest or reading a book instead of watching Barbie. Why do these years go by so fast? . I might not be a typical young Mom by today’s standards but popular or not, these baby beings were so sweetly placed into my hands with trust from the Father that I’ll raise them to enter His Kingdom. Popular or not, that’s what I strive to do show them everyday. I’m not always perfect and the phrase “actions speak louder than words” are becoming all the more true as I watch this one grow. She already copies me in every single thing. She remembers every word, every moment. Lord, please help me to fix my eyes even more on You so she can see that beyond all else.

Sooo, I finally took the enneagram test, thanks to @daisahriley and it's exactly as she said it would be. I would send the test to all of my friends and family and from that moment on everyone would have an imaginary number floating over their heads. LOL ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Listen, I was resistant to the results (hello, type 6 here!) but it was pretty spot on. When I am my healthiest I am courageous, reliable, loyal as freak and dutiful buuuuuut when I'm not I can be paranoid and extremely anxious (ouch). The truth stings a bit but there is nothing like self awareness and the bright side is it's not to put you in a box, it’s telling you what box you’re in and how to get out of it. Now, I am aware of moments when my anxiety is boiling over and I am second guessing everything that is life and I am able to speak truth over myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Feelings. They are not conclusions and I am learning that I gotta focus on my truths especially when things are chaotic. That is why it is important to me to be surrounded by love and truthful reminders and my support system to combat that lies and fears that I face daily. How to help your 🧠 keep up with your busy 🐝 lifestyle…in 1 minute or less ⏰👌🏽 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let’s face it, most of us don’t make time for a lengthy sit up straight, eyes closed, mantra-centered sesh🧘🏻‍♂️daily like maybe we should…guilty!🙋🏼‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So what can we do instead to center our minds, keep our thinking sharp, and stay in rational perspective without getting caught up in the daily hastles?🤯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨🐵MONKEY MEDITATION! 🐵✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can do this any time, anywhere! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▫️Close your eyes. ▫️Forget about everything going on in the world, intentionally dedicate these few moments to your breath. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ▫️Take a deep diaphragmatic inhale through the nose. ▫️Hold. ▫️Follow with a lengthy exhale through the mouth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✖️Personally, I like the 4-7-8 second ratio.✖️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Repeat 3x (or as many as you choose). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✖️Just be sure to keep your mind fixated on your breathing and nothing else!✖️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🌞 envision as you inhale that your body is filling up with warm rays of sunshine and positivity. 🌚 and as you exhale that all darkness and feelings of negativity is leaving your body ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❤️My favorite time is while giving a big hug to a loved one. It’s been 7 and a half weeks since the accident that damaged my knees, that has changed my life.... It’s disrupted my life but not how I thought it would. It’s made me reflect and adjust to a mindful, more deliberate way of being. Yes, it stopped me in my tracks. It made me see myself in a different light. I was really tough on myself in some ways and totally neglectful in other ways. I was too busy running to take time to “be” with people. But that has changed yet I haven’t really missed out on anything although I’ve said “no” to so much. I think the biggest thing is I feel so connected to family and community. I have had growth in the depth of my being and awareness about myself. I feel rested and nourished instead of overwhelmed and drained. I’m learning to walk again. Metaphorically and in reality. Being mindful of how I walk, my posture, how I stride, how I step forward. Consciously, taking note that I’m sure-footed, with my eye on the path ahead. Confident steps, taken with humility and gratitude. Increasing my stamina everyday. So what does the future hold...an appointment with the surgeon to see what the next “steps” will be. Surgery or simply rehab. Not knowing means right now I live each day as it comes. Adapting as I need, asking for help if I need it, continuing to be diligent with all I “get” to do in my life. I know I’ve been quiet but there’s a reason. I’m learning to “walk” again.
