In the face of hardship I've only ever given myself two options "laugh or you'll cry". Sometimes life and adventure get tough, but I've always been a huge believer in the fact that it's your attitude to the problem that can make things much easier to deal with or much harder. I've accidentally taken this part of me into multisport adventuring because I am constantly finding myself laughing in wild situations and always accidentally choosing the adventure based on the potential for a ridiculously hilarious time. 😭😂
So naturally when it came time to go for my first dive since the shark attack, we picked a sheltered bay nestled behind a few KMs of dense scrub. To get to the water I found myself crawling through mud in a wetsuit with a full pack on, yelling through the bushes to @mitchsb to find me via my speargun in the air because I was too short to see over the bushes (pic 1), and wishing that I'd chosen to do all this in boots instead of my fluro purple "adventure crocs"!
Once we finally got in the water @kate_trecartin eased the tension by diving with her deep water solo climbing shoes inside her borrowed fins because they were too big, all while laughing with me at the absolute ridiculousness of the whole saga!
I love getting outside and pushing my limits in far flung places, but that's not all adventure is about for me. It's about combining passions, finding the comedy in it all and bringing the right attitude to make the bitter times that much sweeter. Is adventure comedy an official genre? If it is, I'm totally here for it!
I wanna know your best adventure comedy stories! HMU 🙋😂😭🗻 As always, 📸 By @mitchsb
