Frequently clients ask us how often they should have massage?
How often for massage? This depends on your body condition. People tend to only leave their body until they have not only muscle tension which accumulates daily but allow the tension to become aches or pains. For releasing long term muscle tension, aches or pain, we recommend once a week for the first 4 weeks then once every 3 weeks or once a month. Benefits can be felt after the first treatment but regular massages are recommended to keep on top of it.
The reason is because if you leave the tension for a long time, the muscle become tighter and tighter and only one session of massage can not clear all of the tension.
On top of that if after one session of massage, you still continue doing the same daily routine, posture or activities which cause the muscle tension, aches and pain, the same body tension will occur to your body and accumulate again.
If you can change, stop or reduce these routine, posture or activities, the tension, aches and pains will not relapse or will be slower than before.
But if we can not avoid the same routine because they are part of our work or lifestyle, we should add some activities that can help ease, release, or reduce the tension, aches and pains such as wearing a waist belt to support your lower back, yoga to help body become more flexible, exercise to stimulate blood circulation, massage to release the tensions, improve energy level, and increase relaxation, etc.
If you do not yet have long term body tension or aches and pains. For a relaxing massage you can have one whenever you feel the need to prevent the stress, tensions or aches from starting.
