Marilyn Monroe in The Bird Sitting at the Ambassador Hotel in New York in February (1956). Photo by Cecil Beaton.
The room was designed by Beaton himself. He built the setting for it to be a "flirtatious and energetic photo shoot" with Marilyn. Marilyn, of course, was an amazing model and very easy to shoot. She even did her own makeup. Ed Pfizenmaier, Beaton's assistant, said: "Marilyn took care of her own make up, which most people, they can’t believe it nowadays. She came just by herself, with these two little dresses and it was as simple as that."
