'They were the ones that named Her flesh, Her style and who She should be.
They were the ones that stuck these words to Her curves, Her clothes and Her lips.
They were the ones that stuffed Her mouth, moulded Her thoughts and gave Her her Fears.
They were the ones who told Her She was too much.
Too much body,
Too much colour.
Too much noise;
Too much everything
She believed them.
She tried to be smaller, darker, hidden.
She bound her curves in uncomfortable garments made to lesson her 'type'.
She drained her clothes of colour, bleached and peached her skin, blackened her eyebrows in.
She changed her voice, dumbed down her mind, and hid her magic.
She grew her hair in the latest sweeping fashion.
Fucked herself up -
She listened to Them
there was just a tiny spark where once there was a blazing fire;
She was too much,
She wasn't enough.
She made a choice.
She listened to her inner voice.
The one screaming, stifled, sacred and saffron red,
She raised Her head.
She broke everything open.
She ran back to the Sea and listened to her crashing, present, loud song until She was able to sing along.
She looked up at the curving, undulating hills and mountains and saw strength in their 'muchness'.
She observed the smart fox, the calculating eagle, the hare as it sought the moon and unleashed Her mind.
She looked at all of the colours in all of the seasons and painted them onto her face, her clothes and her body; She would be seen.
She saw each tree with their unique twists and turns, their multitude of skins-
She no longer wanted to fit in.
She grabbed the earth and rubbed it on her chest, unbound her large and supple breasts. She stroked each proud curve and cut her hair to suit her own face. She found her smile reflecting in a lake and let the sun kiss her cheeks.
They, could name her anything,
but only She knew who she was.
She was Too Much.
She was a fire blazing,
Much More than a tiny spark,
She chose there and then
to keep Herself hidden in Their dark'. ('Too much' by #fiercesister, Art-Lloyd G Wade) #confidence #loveyourbody #strongwomen #loveyourself
