I’ve been missing Salted Plum’s ‘Lu Rou Fan’ for awhile now, so it seems only right to drop by their new store at Suntec City.
And boy, was I in for a tummy exploding treat!!
The food is not only good, it’s ‘home cooked good’. It’s a different thing if you know what I mean. That comfy feeling that is beyond just good taste. Things are served in simple no nonsense bowls and eaten with chopsticks and and jumbo stainless steel spoon. Just how I like it!
Ok, you literally can’t talk about Salted Plum without talking about their Lu Rou, and now they have a Lu Rou version 2.0 which has this amazing personal story I NEED to share! I am a fan of Lu Rou for the longest time and had tried their original dark, watery sauce version which I LOVED!! So 2 years ago, I started developing my own version which had a smooth rich emulsified sauce that was lighter in color. It ended up in MasterChef SG and got even more upgraded after.
Now guess what? Their version 2.0 is almost exactly the same!! My mind is completely blown at how 2 people separately doing their own shit can somehow have the same idea and end up with almost the same thing!
Great minds do indeed think alike!! Hahahahaha! Super good job to the guys @thesaltedplumsg !
Do I like your new Lu Rou V2.0? Hell yeah! I farking love it!!
But of course the rest of the stuff like the burnt chilli chicken, pork chop and cold tofu is a killer too! And their dipping sauce which is like a chicken rice chilli Mayo (I think?) is like crack!
So there you have it! Go to Salted Plum and give it a go. It’ll be worth your time. And no, this is NOT a paid advertisement! Lol!!!
Enjoy! Thank me later!
