Day 15: Today we went to Nagoya to visit the Toyota factory. We went on the bullet train which was super nice as the seats feel like airplane seats but with a lot of extra leg space. The trip from Kyoto to Nagoya was about and hour but most of us took a nap to pass the time. At around 12:00 we arrive in Nagoya to take a shuttle bus to the Toyota factory. The bus was on a very strict schedule and we only had 10 mins to get ready and on the bus. Once we were one we met a Toyota representative that was going to guide use through the factory. We were not allowed to take any videos or photos, so for the first stop we went to the production facility were we can see the assembly process. This specific factory produces Prius’, Camery’s, and Corolla’s and build 2000 cars a day. The size of the factory was 1.3 million square meters roughly larger than 6 soccer fields. We were able to see an above view of the production facility and we got to see robot arms assemble the product. This was amazing and scary at the same time, amazing in how efficient the whole process was and how fluid it looked but scary in that these machines may take over ordinary processes as they are so efficient. The next stop was further down in the process where they attach doors, paint the car and test drive them. This was also eye opening as Toyota was able to simplify what appears to be a supper complicated process to something that a high school graduate can do. What I found very interesting is that they produce both left and right hand steering vehicles on the same line. The last stop on the tour was the museum where we can see some of the cars they have in production, although this was not as interesting as the earlier part of the tour, there was a simulation portion of the museum where we could “drive”. A lesson I took from today was how operation is a important aspect in being able to create something, especially in high volume. Toyota listens to their employees if they feel there is a better process and implements them to help refine their processes.

If Myanmar were to have a slogan, it would probably be “work hard, crash hard.” Everywhere you look people are busting themselves day and night and then just crashing anywhere they can. Afternoon swims in the mountains - this was probably the coldest lake we swam in and I had to send @symon_lambit back about 4 times before getting this. Come check out my story for another look at how I edited this photo to create some dramatic lighting with the sunset turning out a little flatter than I’d hoped @lightroom #adobepartner at Lago Di Carezze Dolomiti

This past week I crossed a major bridge. I finally completed my B.A. degree in Public Health Policy after withdrawing from school in 2013, subsequently accepting the role of caregiver to three family members with terminal illnesses over the following four years, in addition to Physical Therapy school pre-reqs (knocked out A&P, Chem, and Physics I and II, Bio II, and Calculus in two semesters). Next step is to take the GRE, apply to PT programs, and receive a grant writing certificate. I'm so tired, but so ready for this next chapter of MY life. 🎉💖 Addendum: I was very seriously considering becoming a DO (osteopath) for awhile, but in the end, I found my way back to the original path that lead me to where I am today. PT's the way for me! 🌱 at Belfast, Maine
