I spent my first two nights by myself in Montsant, approx. 1km above sea level. On my last night I found an ingress/cave on the side of the mountain and decided to sleep in only my sleeping bag covering my feet. I set an alarm for 4 AM hoping to have a clear sky and slept among the clouds.
As I awoke, I saw the stars and took my time to slowly get up and do some shooting. The wind was some of the harshest I had ever experienced, definitely above 20 m/s, temperatures being ±0°. My little photoshoot culminated in this 20 sec exposure, using my headlamp as a light source, being as still as possible. Turned out quite alright!
Trekking and being in the mountains gives me peace and confidence that I've never experienced before, connecting with myself amidst nature is a true respite from the digital woes of today. I encourage everyone to take a walk in their local park, forest, or whatever, and consider buying a tent, bag and insulated mat for sleeping, probably possible to net for about 50€ and will last a decade when treated right.
Go out there, find yourself. at Serra de Montsant
