THE DUALITY OF FEELINGS: Sometimes I feel a deep wave of something I don’t like- sadness, anxiety, depression . I usually try to distract myself from it by my phone, eating, music, or reading. Today was different though, today I just let it be there.
I didn’t run to find a quick fix today- which has reminded me that quick fixes only lead to a need for more quick fixes down the line . So instead of expecting to find instant solutions, expecting immediate peace, and expecting 24/7 happiness.... I allowed the experience to be what it was in the moment .
I had to let go of trying to escape or fix or improve or evaluate the situation. I had to let the uncomfortable feeling go on forever (it never actually last forever). I had to surrender the stories and the labels and the meanings and not expect a single thing .
As someone who has a passion and career in helping others, it’s easy to feel guilty and unqualified when these waves come over me. I know it’s not true because it’s so intertwined with WHY I have a passion for helping others. It allows me to coach others even better because I have to actually fill my own tank with the gas I give ⛽️ and that’s sincerity .
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or sadness, today I encourage you to let it be there today. Accept that your soul tank is low & realize that it means there is space. There is space to explore,
to create, to admire your surroundings, or to just simply exist and that’s okay . at Winter Park, Florida
