Four miles at an 8:10 pace! I canโ€™t complain. Three weeks out from my next Spartan Sprint and Iโ€™m feeling great. If youโ€™re wondering how I can run so fast even though I hardly run at all, your answer is right there in that question. A huge mistake that people make when it comes to running (or lifting, or anything else really) is overdoing it. I run maybe twice a week, and I only lift three. I mix up my conditioning a lot with different circuits and I hit the Stairmaster. Every athlete is different of course, but rest is crucial for everyone. I always have pretty good leg days but this is one of the best ones in a while. I trained with @cruzhall today and he always pushes me to go a bit harder. โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข Started off with barbell box squats 2 warmups no box, 2-3 warmups w/ box Work sets: 3x10, 1x8 same weight โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข Leg press Sets of 8 until you get to a challenging weight (youโ€™ll know when it starts to get difficult around 6 reps) 1 set at a challenging weight, as many reps as you can. Shoot for more than 8 reps. โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข FAILURE ALERT ๐Ÿšจ Reverse banded hack squats Same set/rep scheme as leg press โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข I was dead from the box squats by the time we got to the banded hacks. On my work sets I aim for 8+ reps, unfortunately I failed on rep 5. I didnโ€™t give up though, dropped the weight 90lbs and banged out 8 hard reps (I think) โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข Finished up with 2 drop sets at 3 plates 10-12 reps. โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข Failure is okay ๐Ÿ‘Œ thatโ€™s the best way to grow and learn. Today made 47 consecutive days of working out! On December 31st, 2018 I made a vow to myself to workout every single day in 2019 no matter what!! Wether its 30 minutes of yoga or a quick 20 minute ab session, there will be some form of movement! Is it easy to workout every day? absolutely not (especially when I work 50 hours a week) but It is the challenge/discipline that I seek. The more structured I am, the more focused I am! I've agreed to view everything going forward the exact same way I viewed my 14 day juice cleanse/detox. For 14 days I drank only juice and water. I wanted to give up so many times but I kept the commit that I made to myself on day 1. No matter what 2019 bring I will not miss a workout! . Today I trained at Planet Fitness since it is so close to my house and my main gym UFC is 20 miles away! I am doing 3 sets of 20 repetitions and keeping my form good, for my technique make sure to keep your core engaged and don't lean down using your hips, use your abdominals and make sure to feel the burn. A little before and after... my downfall lately is being exhausted with no motivation and checking the scale religiously. I did not make it to the gym all week until today. As Iโ€™ve stated in previous posts my weight fluctuates and it frustrates me. What I forget is although the scale may not budge and I may have hit a plateau I am however losing inches too. My clothes are fitting loose and when I look back to when I first started i can tell a difference and that Iโ€™ve leaned out a bunch. Iโ€™m stuck at 153/154 on a good day and 155 on a bad day lol. I am still eating clean and having to adjust certain things each week. This is why I say take pictures. Because when Iโ€™m a little down on myself and weight I can see progress none the less. || Vacation Workouts || โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข staying active on vacation can be a challenge if you donโ€™t make a point to start your day off with a gym workout, a run on the beach or just a simple hotel room HIIT workout. The drinks start flowing, you eat foods you wouldnโ€™t typically eat and you get lazy relaxing by the beach or the pool. We made it a point to stay active this week, and luckily the Symphony of the Seas has an amazing gym, and even with over 8,000 (!!) people on the boat, there was plenty of room and equipment to get a good workout in. We did a lot of supersetting so we could switch between machines and equipment without losing our spot. On the days we didnโ€™t get in the gym, we stayed active by zip-lining through the jungle in Roatan, walking the beach in Nassau and climbing the Mayan Ruins in Mexico.
