👆🏻THIS! This was the beginning. The first step of thousands that lead us to today.
👣 First steps of freedom
👣 First steps of faith
👣 First steps of self discovery
👣 First steps to healing
Every person yearns to stay in the seasons of life that we love. The dear friends, the great job, the friendly neighborhood, the loving family... no parent ever said “I wish my sweet children would hurry up and leave home.” No one ever griped, “I wish I didn’t live in this awesome house,” or “I can’t wait to quit my amazing job.” When we are in a season of blessing, we want it to go on forever...
And then we go through one of life’s tornados. Although we always manage to survive, everything in our otherwise orderly existence is (less than artfully) rearranged. In the wake of the storm, we collect the tattered pieces- the passing of a loved one, the broken relationship, the lost job, leaving the home we knew and loved... .
These are the heartbreak seasons. The transitions. They can feel utterly endless as we pass through them. It’s hard to imagine joy on the other end. It’s hard to SEE the good that is all around us! But it’s there, my friends, it is there. .
The funny thing about life- it’s never the good times that teach us the important lessons. Losing one job opens doors to another. Broken relationships make space for introspection and healing. Death- horrible horrible death, reminds us the precious value of life. 🌿
Here’s the truth. Pruning a limb doesn’t kill the tree, but encourages new, healthy growth. Oh, it may look like an ugly scar, but out of that scar blooms new, abundant life. .
The important thing is to Just. Keep. Moving. Just place one foot in front of the other, even when it seems meaningless. Even when there seems to be no path, no direction, no purpose. We can never get to the place of healing if we stay in one place. Don’t look at the distance laying before you and feel discouraged. Don’t look behind you and feel despair.
