pu’uhonua ʻo puʻuhuluhulu + the pillar of protectors for our beloved mauna a wākea. endless gratitude, strength, reverence + aloha to all kiaʻi - near, far, in person, on the frontlines, online - those chained, seated, standing, securing - the mauna medics, those serving/feeding/nourishing/providing for the kiaʻi - those who I saw picking up opala everywhere they went - those who offered kōkua at every turn - those who offered mele (songs), moʻolelos (stories), oli (chants), hoʻokupu (offerings), pule (prayers), sign waving, smiles, hugs + tender moments of connection + aloha - everyday + everywhere following more + more in aloha with you lāhui + all you do to aloha ʻāina, malama honua + malama one another .
everyone showing up in service to mauna, to the ʻāina, to the lāhui - for the collective, for our kupuna, keiki + future generations. I learn so much every moment I’ve spent on the mauna on how to truly malama one another + walk in reverence + reciprocity for place, people, culture, traditions + not only what it means to be kanaka maoli but to be pono, be humbled + be human - mahalo mauna + lāhui for constantly teaching us all how to show up in service, in solidarity + in aloha .
to all those standing, those rising, those near + far that are offering all they are to our beloved mauna - mahalo. mahalo more than words can truly express. mahalo mauna a wākea for all you grace/give us, for what this movement has/is teaching us + for all kiaʻi, on the frontlines + around the world who have raised - in words, in action, in aloha + all those still rising. we all in this together - the mauna is protected another day - no arrests + only aloha .
