Move over, Kayangan Lake (Coron). Dinagat Islands' Lake Bababu I think is the cleanest lake in the PH.
Getting its name from “Baba sa Buwaya” (Bibig ng Buwaya) after the island entrance's shape that resembles a croc's head, Lake Bababu is a meromictic lake where freshwater floats on top of densier saltwater underneath. Put simply: saltwater doesn't mix with freshwater. It's a mystical lake believed to have healing powers. Visitors can safely drink the water.
It's normally part in grouped tour itinerary... but you can also DIY by renting a motorized boat to take you to the island. Contact Kuya Eddie: (0910) 170 0983. There's a short 700m hike up and down to the lake.
Bring your hammock, tent and supplies. You can just camp right at the white-sandy Bababu Beach which is the entrance going to the lake. The beach also faces to the west so you can have a spectacular view of sunsets. Just contact Kuya Survic (0950) 640 9520
