Throwback to 2018 when I ran 14 half marathons, Hood To Coast, a 200 floor stair climb, and a 5k. Not to mention 2 StrongFirst certs. NBD 😉. But here’s the thing. I ran when it was cold and rainy and too hot. I ran when I didn’t want to. I ran because I was the Run Club captain and HTC captain and Shamrock Run team organizer. I ran because I told people I was going to be there. I trained when I didn’t want to, when I fell into a deep hole of depression and could barely get out of bed. But I told people I was going to be at the gym and that I needed to be there even when I was pissed and holding back tears and hated every second because it was taking me away from isolating, but that’s what exactly what I needed. These are the things I have in place that keep me accountable to myself and on track with my goals. Knowing that people were counting on me or maybe just as simple expecting me to be do something because I said I would. It’s not always easy, warm, sunny, the right time, or mood, but staying active is what keeps me healthy and sane and the systems I have in place keep me going. DOMS - delayed onset muscle soreness.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is the muscle pain that you may get when you start exercising for the first time, do new exercises or use higher than normal volumes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is no correlation between levels of pain experienced and either the quality of your workout, how much muscle damage has been caused or how much muscle you are likely to gain.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Also, lactic acid does not cause DOMS.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Higher levels of pain can cause changes in how you move. You know how much you try to avoid certain movement swhen you are sore, so you start to try to find a work around.This also changes how you perform certain exercises, increasing the potential for injury. Been so bored in the evenings, living out of this hotel room, that I’ve started doing, almost, daily club, mace, and bell work. All light work, mainly for movement/cardio/recovery. Tonight was club and mace movement, then did 100 snatches, followed by 100 clean and presses; the presses turned into jerks near the end, but it was all unbroken 🤷‍♂️.. Gym has just been grind, nothing too exciting, though I’m hoping for some new numbers here soon. 🤘🏻

🏋️‍♀️ Today was about glutes and it killed me! Still sticking to the program #terryhollands #powerbuilding sumo deadlift with kettle bells, variation of crunches, and I did some rows for some hiit (60 secs intense 60 secs chill for 10 minutes) etc.... I wasn’t feeling the row machine today because I didn’t eat enough 💀. But I got through it . Make sure to get your calories in people! Not eating enough is just as bad as eating too much. You will have low energy for your workout and a possible headache.
