I had the pleasure of being invited by my friend @lizzyfretwell to Stopsley Baptist Church @sbcoffice today for their #EasterSunday service. This was a great opportunity to not only show unity in a time of turmoil, but to learn about other faiths and share stories of the similarities and differences between our religions. In a town like #Luton, where multiculturalism is at it's best (although the media highlights the worst!), having interfaith dialogue is important.
I had a very warm welcome, and spoke to many people about how Muslims believe in Jesus too, but as a prophet of God. We believe he will return to earth near the end of times. It was lovely having open discussions and seeing what a church service and baptism are like, hearing what Easter means to Christians and regardless of our faiths, being at one with our prayers for the Sri Lanka victims today. I even met some Labour Party supporters there! 💪🏼 One of the funniest moments was when a prayer was made for Theresa May... she certainly needs them 😂
I asked the pastor and some others if they'd like to come to a local Islamic event or visit a mosque etc, they'd love to. Lutonian Muslims, let me know if you have any suggestions ☺ - I think it'd be great doing something around Ramadan or Eid!
Lizzy also did a very powerful monologue performance - watch out for her in the creative/arts scene in Luton 😉 Thank you again Lizzy for inviting me ☺ .
