Sitting beside Hirosaki Park, but often overlooked, is the Fujita Memorial Garden. It was originally designed in 1919 for Kenichi Fujita, a local resident who was the first chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Later taken over by the government, it was opened to the public in 1991 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hirosaki becoming a city. *See previous posts.
