RADICAL ACCEPTANCE 🧘 "Radical Acceptance means completely and totally accepting something from the depths of your soul, with your heart and your mind. You stop fighting reality. When you stop fighting, you suffer less." ♦️I leaned Radical Acceptance as a coping skill in DBT. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an intense year-long program which teaches you how to change thinking patterns and self harming behaviors. Radical Acceptance is one of my favorite skills that I learned and has helped me to not just live but THRIVE. It is about living without judgement. ♦️ Life sometimes just is what it is. In it's simple form, life is neither good or bad - it just IS. With that in mind, today I am reminding myself to accept the things I can not change, spotlight the good and live in happiness pointed forward. I wish I had something prettier to show you, but that's my meal today. Wild caught Norwegian cod that fell apart as I was cooking it. I only used some @realsaltketo onion flavor salt to season it. Today is my protein day as in PSMF - protein sparing modified fast... Which means proteins are my main nutrient today and fats are minimal... No carbs of course! So I have secretly been doing Keto for the past 2-3 weeks. I feel my body was stuck with the meal prep so I needed something different. I have lost 7 lbs since last time I got weighed and the doctors office but I am honestly not sure if I have lost much doing this delicious low carb super high fat diet. It has not really worked for me in the past but I am giving it another go....is that stupid? I am also going to start incorporating intermittent fasting....this is supposed to really help get your body burning fat for fuel! I am doin a 36 hr fast today and am going to attempt to do that every Monday and Thursday for a while. Would love opinions and support on this matter. I am also done hiding that I am trying this. I feel my body is done with the huge calorie depletion for now and needs a different sort of shock. I’ll list some of the decadent food I have been eating. Caramel Flavoured Raw Chocolate Brownie Bites 🍫 😋. . Try making these delish brownie bites so you have a tasty treat ready to go when you need it. Ingredients: 1 cup pecans 1/8 tsp sea salt 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/2 cup almond butter 10 drops liquid caramel stevia 2 tbsp coconut flour 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Instructions: Step 1: Gather all ingredients. In a food processor add in the pecans and sea salt. Process until finely ground. Step 2: Add in the cocoa powder, nut butter, vanilla extract and stevia and process until well combined. Step 3: Add in the coconut flour and process again. Add chocolate chips and pulse. Step 4: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the dough between the palm of hands to form small 1 tbsp balls and place on parchment paper. Continue until all the batter is used. This day was amazing but I may have over done it with the egg loaf. I lost 0.2 pounds :( but at least the scale went down and not up. I had 9 eggs total if I’m counting egg loaf correctly. 3 scrambled, 3 egg salad, 4 oz cheese, 2 hard boiled fried, 1-2 egg loaf. I added sf vanilla and cinnamon on top. I also had coffee with 1 tbs mct oil and 1 tbs butter and plenty of water. I did not make my 20 hours today, and I definitely blame stress and eating my feelings. I was awakened an hour early by the dog and a thunder storm ⛈ and it threw off my entire morning routine. Then we had a to-do with our home loan that this idiot lady has been misinforming us about for a month. Then I was reading about the Battle of Midway and it listed all the pilots killed in the battle. I thought I owed it to them to read their names. It drained me... so many. So, I broke my fast at 17 hours with a homemade “guacamole” and some bacon. 🥓 🥑. I also made up some coconut lime fat bombs. Which are making me feel like it’s summertime. They were really simple: coconut butter, coconut cream, coconut oil, lime zest, lime juice, and a few drops of stevia. 🥥🥥. Also, I’ve been trying to stay Keto during this week of fasting, and I thought of tracking my macros but I was having a really hard time with the apps. One was telling me my meals were unbalanced and guilting me about my food. The other didn’t have the right nutritional values for what I was entering. So, I’ve gone real old school: note book and pencil. I have incorporated intermittent fasting into my lifestyle this week and I am loving it! I’m doing 18/6, 18 hours fasting, 6 hour eating window. I thought I would be starving by the time it was time to eat. But I haven’t been! I have been breaking my fast by drinking my favorite pink drink and then 30 minutes later I eat my first meal. I make sure it is a moderate protein, high fat, low carb meal. Today I had a cabbage breakfast bowl, I fried the cabbage in bacon grease, added some dried chopped onion and seasoned with salt and pepper, topped with two eggs (my second egg didn’t look as pretty so I didn’t photography it😂😂)half an avocado and sprinkled with everything but the bagel seasoning! It was delicious!!

~Exactly one year ago I started my vegan journey. It has not been a perfect year but any forward motion is a step in the right direction. I work as a Pastry Chef....so, the probability that I eat dairy and eggs is highly avoidable. I also have been having more dizzy spells which most advice is I am not taking in enough protein. It is instant remorse when I do eat anything I normally would not. Intermittent fasting helps tremendously. I found that 18/6 works best for me by far. 18 hours fasting. 6 hours allowed to eat. Everything takes discipline and being hangry tends to make me a little less disciplined. Waist training has been going super! Firstly, what is #intermittentfasting?🍽️⏰ • IF is when you have an "eating window" and a "fasting" window. Most research is done on the 8:16. Example - all meals consumed between 12pm-8pm and fasting for the remainder of the day/night. It has been linked to a long list of health benefits, from weight loss to improving insulin sensitivity and improved biomarkers associated with Type 2 diabetes. • Personally I ❤️ IF, but it can cause issues for some women and their hormones (me included this time last year). Here's why 👇🏼 • Think of the female hormonal system as a symphony 🎼 If one instrument (hormone) is out of tune it affects the quality of the music being played. This is the same when it comes to our hormones, especially oestrogen our female hormone♀️ • Stress is one of the biggest causes for oestrogen to get out of sync and that’s down to increased levels of cortisol. • Fasting can push our bodies into a state that prompts the adrenals to make higher levels cortisol which in turn activates our sympathetic nervous system, AKA our fight or flight response. When the body is chronically in this state it can do the following: ⚠️Delay or prevent ovulation from occuring. ⚠️Lower progesterone levels (it gets converted into more cortisol as a response mechanism). ⚠️Cause you to miss a period (anovulation). ⚠️Change the timing of your period (cause spotting, an early period, or a period that looks or feels different than your norm). • Does this happen to everyone? No, but if you are already dealing with high stress from work, over training, low nutrient intake or struggling with hormonal imbalances already, then IF might not be right for you at this time in your life. • Comment below if you'd like my recommendations on how to incorporate fasting, while protecting your hormones 👇🏼🤸
