Until a few weeks ago, the Vancouver-based Blue Heron Creamery sold plant-based, dairy-free cheese. At least, it did until a few weeks ago. Today’s #facetofacefriday marks exactly 6 months since I made the conscience decision to lose weight and get in better physical condition. . . As of today I have lost 91 pounds total in 184 days. There could be many reasons for this, but I want to discuss one possible way to improve your shrugs to activate your upper trapezius, 1 of 3 heads of the traps that really give you a muscular frame. ⠀⠀

Traditional shrugs in which the hands are to the side with zero degrees of shoulder abduction activate the upper traps less and cause the levator scapulae to take over. This is actually the primary muscle that causes the shrugging motion, especially when standing upright. So how do you work the levator scapulae less and the upper trapezius more?⠀⠀

Choi et al. showed that simply widening your grip to 90-150 degrees of shoulder abduction activated the upper traps more and the levator scapula less [1]. This is much like the "snatch-grip" in Olympic weightlifting. This makes sense considering the pennation angle, or the angle at which the trap muscle fibers run, is diagonal. So when you shrug, your arms are in line with the trap fibers.⠀⠀

Another way to reduce activation of the levator scapulae is to slightly hinge at the hips. Instead of being completely upright, you are going to be leaning forward a tad bit.⠀⠀

Next time you shrug, widen your grip and slightly bend over more. Let me know if you feel your traps activating to a greater degree!⠀⠀

В предверии праздника захотелось побаловать мужа чем-нибудь необычным. Решила приготовить апельсиново-шоколадный тарт с орехами😁 Долго просматривала рецепты на просторах интернета. В итоге подобрала «под себя». ⠀ Для коржа: 🍰 рисовая мука - 150гр 🍰 кукурузная мука - 50гр 🍰 разрыхлитель - 1ч.л 🍰 кокосовое масло - 90гр 🍰 кокосовый сахар - 40гр 🍰 семена чиа - 2ст.л 🍰 вода - 6ст.л ⠀ Для начинки: 🍰 шоколад 70% - 100гр 🍰 свежевыжатый апельсиновый сок - 200мл 🍰 фундук и грецкий орех по 100гр 🍰 кокосовое масло - 60гр 🍰 сироп агавы - 40гр 🍰 цедра апельсина - ½ ст.л ⠀ Начнем с коржа. Семена чиа заливаем водой, оставляем набухнуть на 5 мин. Муку смешиваем с разрыхлителем. Кокосовое масло соединяем с кокосовым сахаром и чиа, блендерим. Затем замешиваем тесто. ⠀ Перекладываем тесто руками в форму и формируем корж с бортиками. Ставим в разогретую духовку до 180 градусов на решетку на 5 мин. ⠀ В это время растапливаем шоколад. Достаем корж и заливаем шоколадом. Оставляем затвердеть и остыть. ⠀ Далее доготавливаем начинку. Соединяем апельсиновый сок, цедру апельсина, сироп агавы, кокосовое масло, орехи и блендерим. Полученную массу кладем на остывший корж. Отправляем в духовку на 20 мин при 180 градусов. ⠀ Ждем, когда тарт остынет и снимаем форму. Total lol at this picture! Not very appetising is it 🙈 had a veggie breakfast wrap this morning and yet again it was disappointing!! I’m not having much luck at the mo ☹️ they changed the mushrooms to these button mushrooms and I just wasn’t feeling it so picked them out and it was instantly 10 times better. Don’t know cals for this and quite frankly I don’t care. Soz but rn I’m very up and down with my calorie-obsessing which is actually quite liberating. I have been generally happy with my weight / body over the past six-ish moths and when I start feeling fluffy or bloated I am happy to rein it in. I deffo can’t eat and drink whatever I want 100% of the time but I’m just guna enjoy my weekend and get back to bizniz on Monday.
