In spirit of Valentine’s Day, I wanted to share some of what I’ve learned about love & relationships. .
Love is...EVERYTHING. It is necessary. Love is the most freeing, yet the most powerful weapon we have...but ONLY when utilized correctly. Love makes us invincible. It reveals the strength of vulnerability. It kills ego & pride. It is the engine that drives past pain & disappointments. Love saves. It is truly the life jacket in the ocean of life. It makes the ugly, beautiful. It digs deeper than the shallowness we live by. It introduces us to our core and other’s souls. Our nature often forces us to protect ourselves through being “cold”, selfish, careless, but love proves it’s the ultimate protector & healer! .
Love drives out hate. Love is the light that extinguishes the dark. And we all possess darkness. The issue is we go into relationships either hiding the burdens or dumping them on our partners. Love is misused and misunderstood, which results in the negative connotation it has gained, such as “love doesn’t exist”. We have our own expectations from it & get hurt when they’re not met. We refrain from partaking in the labor of love & feel pain when we don’t witness the fruit. We haven’t stopped to observe & understand love in order to use it. .
Love is only successful when it’s unconditional. Love goes beyond flaws, shortcomings, broken promises. It’s not about getting hurt, it’s about HEALING from the pain through love to keep going. .
Love is a marathon, but most of us treat it like a race & deem it nonexistent when it ends so quickly. Most of us stop at the hurt & draw our own conclusions about love. .
Love exists, but it takes an immense amount of internal work to excel at it. Successful relationships start with self love. If utilized correctly, love can be the most liberating & soul enriching experience of a lifetime!
