I got to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific yesterday thanks to a visit of some dear-to-my-heart-friends. Right away I noticed there was something in the works regarding the façade of the building and turns out they’re working on a $53 million project. It was a total learning experience delight. Have you visited lately? “Today, the aquarium is home to the oldest sea otter in captivity, a top research hub for breeding of weedy sea dragons as well as a center for ocean and climate education... It’s also an economic anchor for downtown Long Beach, situated between restaurants and clothing outlets. A 2012 report by the consulting firm AECOM put its economic impact at $57 million annually. Today, work is underway on a $53 million addition called Pacific Visions — a exhibit that will include a two-story, 300-seat theater and a 32-foot-tall, 130-foot-long digital projection screen to make viewers feel like they’re in the ocean with the fish. Scheduled for grand opening in May 2019, Pacific Visions will be a different kind of experience, said aquarium President and CEO Jerry Schubel, who came to Long Beach 16 years ago after heading up the New England Aquarium and 20 years as dean of the Stony Brook (N.Y.) University Marine Sciences Research Center. City officials credit Schubel and his connections with helping the aquarium grow.” Excerpt from “6 things the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach has planned for its 20th anniversary”, Long Beach Press Telegram.. . . . #VisitingLA #LongBeachAquarium #LearnSomething #Curiosity #SeaLife #Seadragons #OceanCreatures #MovetoLA #PlacestogoinLA #WestCoastAttractions #PlacesforKidsinLA #LArealtor #Bitcoinrealtor #IAmYourRealtor #FeedYourInnerChild at Aquarium of the Pacific
