Coaching Jade through the deadlift this morning. In theory the deadlift is one of the more simple exercises. Pick a weight up....put it back down, simple right 😏 but in practise it is difficult to perform correctly. You don’t have to look far in most gyms to see someone lifting with terrible form and very close to blowing their back out. 😷🤢 In the first clip Jade is actually performing the hardest part of the movement well, the hip hinge. You can see she is driving her hips back really well, which is actually the part most people struggle with. She is however keeping her hips a little too high, almost like a stiff legged deadlift. Because of this you can see her lower back rounding as she nears the floor. Along with this high hip position her head is up, which also puts her spine into a compromised position. As Jade is such a quick learner and has great control over her body a few minutes of coaching and a few well chosen cues was all it took for her to smash the movement. Chin tucked, no movement from the spine, a much better starting and finishing position. A much safer and more effective deadlift. Swipe to see the difference. I’m not gonna lie... I am struggling 😔 I just have no motivation do to exercise and it’s so annoying! 🙄 I don’t know why? Maybe because my holiday and major events are over? Maybe because I loved my week off too much? 🙈 maybe because I know I’ll be able to lose a little weight when I start working and I’m cooking my own lunches and dinner every day during the week? I just don’t know! 😣 I’ve been staying at my boyfriend’s house this week in Spain and we’ve been eating healthily which is good ☺️🍅🌶🌽🥦🥒🍎🍏🍊🍓🍇 I’ve made some of my favourite recipes and we made homemade burgers for the bbq a couple of nights ago which were 👌🍔🍗 and we have been exercising as he has TRX bars in the garage and we’ve been on a couple of runs but I can’t wait to get back to my training and also my amazing gym in Leeds! At this point in the month I’ve normally done just under 3000MEPS of exercise and so far I’ve done 1400 this month 😶 so I think this month is a bit of a write off 😑 but I’m going to keep going and try my hardest. Total Body exercises are excellent for building strength and losing fat! It was supposed to be leg day today but I also haven’t had cardio recently so decided to do just these three exercises. These will hit your hamstrings, quads, calves, glutes, shoulders and core. If done with minimal rest in between sets, these will also be good cardio! Anyway, here are the exercises. First one is dumbbell hang pulls, followed by thrusters right after! Do about 8-10 reps of each and 4-5 sets. Then do kettlebell swings as a finisher. 16-20 reps, also 4-5 sets.
