I've never been able to do a handstand. 💕 I'd have phases of intensely flinging myself upside against walls, doing hollow holds, and strerching my wrists, but then I'd get lackadaisical about handstand training, concluding that I don't have what it takes to do one. Until... 💕 Last night, I got out of my comfort zone and took Beginner's Acro. I was doing the handstand modification where I was baby jumping into an almost handstand, when the instructor, Morgan, offered to spot me for a full handstand. I said suuuure and gave it a go. 💕 OMG I almost got it! Morgan said that I'm really close and explained what I need to do to lock it in. She's literally just giving me little pokes to correct me, but it's mostly me 😃 💕 I don't always believe in myself, so I'll painfully overprepare for everything and still think I'm not ready. I trained my shoulders for two years and still don't think I'm strong enough to do a handstand, but having Morgan teach me proper handstand technique accelerated my progress in just one night! 💕 Don't be afraid to get help when you're struggling with something. Even if it's embarassing or you think you're too independent to need it, having an objective, outside perspective can't hurt. PROTEIN FRENCH TOAST 🍞 🍞🍞 The poll was split so I will post French toast today + pancakes next time 🎉 Recipe adapted from @bulkpowders_uk: ⤵️ INGREDIENTS: • 2 slices of bread (thick sliced/sourdough works well) • 1 tsp ground flax/chia/seed mix or 2 eggs 🥚 —— • 10g protein powder (I used banana caramel vegan protein) but can omit if you’re using eggs instead — • 60ml of milk of your choice (I used dark chocolate almond) • 1/2 banana ———— • 1/4tsp cinnamon • 1 capful vanilla extract ———— • Pinch of salt METHOD: 1️⃣ Add protein powder + ground seeds, cinnamon + salt into a bowl + mix 2️⃣ Mash 1/2 banana + add to bowl 3️⃣ Add milk + vanilla extract + mix everything together (if using eggs, add them first + then add milk + other ingredients) and allow the mixture to sit for a few mins 4️⃣ Cut the toast into 4 slices + dip each slice into mixture until evenly coated 5️⃣ Heat 1 tsp of coconut oil in a pan (use a tissue to spread it around the pan) 6️⃣ Fry the toast on each side until golden brown + crispy (~2-4 mins) 7️⃣ Add your toppings! Jeg synes grønne linser egner sig skide godt, med smag og tilberedningstid der matcher risene. Ingen bekymringer om hvordan stamtavlen til dine ris ser ud, korte/lange, brune/hvide, det er underordnet. Jeg synes 1/3 linser til 2/3 ris er en fin fordeling. Kog 10-12min med lidt salt, hvil samme tid under låg, færdig, #nahmt. (Gulerødder skåret i små tern er også lækkert sammen med) *Tomatsmovs bestående af hakkede tomater, grøntsager, krydderier efter smag og mælk (fløde, cremefraiche, hvis man er til det), lad det simre og tykne. Her er kun brugt 1 dåse hakket tomat, mælk, hvidløg, løg, krydderier og et nys sukker. Ydermere er tomaten tilsat efter mit kød blev stegt, som også giver lidt smag. Andre grøntsager kan sagtens tilsættes: peberfrugt, gulerødder, squash, svampe (🤮) - fyr den af 😊! Today I wanted to share a little about my personal struggles with food and how I’ve come to be where I am. _ On the left I weighed 165lb (I’m 5’8),would eat whatever I wanted, and more often than not use food to cope with what was really going on. I suffered intense post traumatic stress disorder from a sexual assault a couple months before that picture. I was constantly looking thru my blinds in fear. _ The middle photo was 3.5 years ago during the end of a relationship and I weighed 125lbs. I was extremely restricting with my caloric intake and ate maybe once or twice a day. Subconsciously, I felt like if I couldn’t control what was happening in my life at least I could control what I ate to an unhealthy extent. _ The right is me now. I fluctuate between 138-145lbs. When I’m not competing I’m taking in well over 250g of carbs every day, only doing cardio 3x a week max and have never felt better. Not allowing what happens in life affect what’s on my plate was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Life will never accommodate your goals so you have to put your goals first. No matter what you’ve been through or where you’re starting from, you can reach your health goals if its what you want. My story is why I started Renewed and Fit. #throwbackthursday to night before the @ocbhollywoodnatural in December😊 Im proud to say that i ended the year in the best shape of my life despite having multiple obstacles that mercilessly beat me to a pulp. When i see someone in good shape, i do not see their abs, back, etc. I see their sacrifice, their overcoming of self- doubt, and the will power to break habits and relationships that no longer nurture them. Shredded Chicken Veggie Plate today for lunch🌱 Basically a zero prep meal for those days when you just don’t have the time👍🏼 I never used to be able to eat raw veggies bc they caused me so much stomach upset + bloating but honestly they give me zero troubles now so I’m just going with it🤷🏻‍♀️ If raw veggies give you issues try boiling them and see if that helps🤗 I started coating my zucchini in nutritional yeast and it’s become my FAVORITE way to eat this veggie...just adds so much flavor in my opinion💯 - #whatsonmyplate : •rotisserie chicken(coated in @ghughessugarfree bbq sauce) •1/2 c baby lima beans •1/2 zucchini(coated in nutritional yeast) •green beans •tahini yogurt dip(greek yogurt + tahini + salt + pepper +squeeze lemon juice + little bit of water to thin consistency) - Mitch has been talking about getting me a heated blanket bc I’m constantly asking why our heat doesn’t go higher than 74 degrees😂 (in ALL fairness, our apartment has a lot of windows and the insulation is HORRIBLE!) So after work we’re gonna head to Bed Bath + Beyond or maybe Target and see if we can find one. Any recommendations?? We’re almost to Friday, enjoy your day!!❤️
