Az Európa-szerte több mint ötven színházépületet -- így a budapesti Vígszínházat, a Blaha Lujza téri metróépítés miatt felrobbantott Népszínházat (1908-1965 közt ez volt a Nemzeti), valamint a kecskeméti Katona József Színházat -- megálmodó bécsi építészpáros, Ferdinand Fellner és Hermann Helmer 1909-ben tervezte meg a Váci utca 6.számú telkén a főváros egyik fontos áruházát, a Rothberger Jakab magyarországi központját jelentő, ötemeletes Rothberger-üzletházat. - Az épület Budapest ostroma során kis híján porrá lett, főfalait azonban meg tudták menteni. A kis híján teljes újjáépítés után, 1948-ban a sarokház a frissen megszületett Masped Első Magyar Általános Szállítmányozási Rt. központi irodaépülete lett. A cég kereken ötven évet töltött itt, majd úgy döntöttek, Angyalföldre költöznek, a hátrahagyott ingatlan Váci utcára néző oldalát üzletházzá, a Kristóf téri bejáraton át elérhető tereket pedig irodákká és luxuslakásokká alakítják. Így is történt: a sarkon belépve ma például egy négyszintes Zarába érkezünk. - Az épület homlokzata ennél a funkcióváltásnál teljesen megújult: az egyszerű, csupasz homlokzatok szuper, a feketét és fehéret eszméletlenül menő módon kombináló csodákká váltak, a negyedik emeleti ablakok ívessé tétele pedig óriásit dob az egyébként is vonzó összképen. A két éven át, 2001-2003 közt folyó átépítést Fehérváry Rudolf tervei szerint hajtották végre.
