#day13 of #summersculpt So I actually did this on Friday instead of Saturday because I had a super late night on Thursday and did not feel up to doing a whole sweaty workout. I love my spin bike.😊 I got it on Facebook marketplace and it was a really good deal. I did my first virtual spin class on YouTube and it was a lot of fun. I like to do a combination of cardio and strength training. This is how my home workouts will probably go. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🔹5-10 minutes of cycling 🔹25 minutes of strength training 🔹5 minutes of abs 🔹20 minutes of cycling ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the second picture is basically all the equipment I have. I am looking to build up my collection so I can just quit my membership at the gym. I don’t get enough out of it because it just doesn’t work with my life right now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I still want to purchase a barbell with plates, better, heavier, adjustable dumbbells and a bench. Welcome to Day 15 (Sunday): #CrowCamp2019 🏕 . Back at the drills now, and this week we change it up a bit... so be sure to double check your level and with Joshua's IGTV to know what's up! . EXERCISE: #plankpushups (one minute) . Essentially: we set up with a nice lean in our #plankpose (naturally 😉) and then move with control down to #forearmplank and back up. Times a bunch! Keep core engaged, you know how we do! And you'll want to place your hands a bit further back when you come UP from forearm plank in order to already be in your "leaning" plank, to make the movement efficient and smooth. I may not have done the -best- job with this, but Joshua and my cohosts will show ya how its done! . DRILLS: same same level 2! We are refining our work and seeing results! And you know who you are if you've been leveled up to working flying crow instead of these plank drills 🤓 . So, I wasn't my strongest today (coldddd out here and filmed two days at once due to travel....eek) But I still feel stronger than when I started! My healthy eating is also on point. I don't have cheat days but occasionally Treat myself . They say sometime the universe🌌 has different plans. It has a own way to telling you that u probably need to slow down. The Dr has advised 3-4 days of rest (no Workout 😭) already feeling lost... This small set back won't get me down. I will use dis time to rest 🛌n eat healthy food,🥗🍜 spend time with my family 👩‍👧‍👧, complete pending work👩‍💻 n relax. What is stopping you from exercising? For many people it’s a lack of time or an inability to go to the gym or attend classes. My workout this morning was done in my garage and on my loungeroom floor (after I’d kicked the kids stuff out of the way 😆). You don’t need to go to a gym or wait for a special room in your house! Just a space to get on the floor is enough. Resistance can be body weight or water bottles and the opportunities for cardiovascular exercise are plentiful. Make use of our parks, beaches and reserves for a walk, ride a bike through the bush, go for a swim, climb some stairs or put on some good music and dance for 20 minutes 💃. You don’t have to spend hours either, just get that heart rate up for 20-30 minutes or fit some exercises in around making dinner. Most Australians are under active so do it for your health, not to look a certain way. Be a role model for your kids! They are watching more than you think. And remember, it’s never too late to start!!! Let me know where you exercise and tag me in your workout pics. Have you ever made a vision board before? I made one last year during a coaching retreat. I sat there amongst dozens of elite coaches. We were passing around magazines & glue sticks. I cut out words such as health, fitness & empowerment. Every picture that I chose was related to travel, outdoors & adventure. 👊🏽 Save this one for your next chest day!! You’ll hear me repeat this a thousand times: very SMALL tweaks/variations to common exercises can make an ENORMOUS difference! (Both in increasing effectiveness and avoiding injury) . ☝🏽First, as a general rule, dumbbell presses are better for you than barbell because all the smaller stabilizing muscles have to work harder, and the freedom of rotation makes it easier on the joints. . . 1️⃣ TWEAK 1: As you can see my feet are up here. It’s a little tweak that isolates the chest more since you can’t push off the ground or use an arched back to help you. If you don’t have a wall or something to stabilize your feet, then put them on the bench, just make sure you have a spotter in case you lose your balance . . . 2️⃣ TWEAK 2: Remember the pectoralis major is in charge of internal rotation (see YouTube video), so rotating the dumbbells in as you push out will make the muscle fibers work harder. . . 3️⃣TWEAK 3: Then at the top, rotating the dumbbells back out will bring the center of gravity slightly lower on your body, and therefore recruit more of the lower chest than is used in a static press 😎 . . . #dumbbells #bench #homeworkout #chest #tricep #medstudent #drgains
