Weight loss, health, weight gain, and feeling good about your body [repost]— . . I’ve always thought that I was fat. Ever since I was a little girl I was not super skinny but I also wasn’t obese. As an adult I was told that I needed to take care of my body aka lose weight in order to attract men and get married. Imagine feeling like you would be alone forever because you didn’t think you’d ever be skinny enough to be considered attractive. . I’m sharing some insights with you from my own personal weight loss journey. I feel that the easiest part about health and fitness is eating food in moderation and going to the gym three times a week. The hard part of weight loss, health and fitness is changing your mindset about food and exercise relative to YOU. . If you wanna do anything about your body image, know that it’s not just about exercising and eating “right”. You have to, and I repeat, HAVE TO “fix” your mindset about health and exercise. You have to dig deep and understand where your body insecurities came from and why you can’t get over it. Why some foods trigger binge eating and why do others not entice you. . . When it comes to setting your goals, don’t base your goals on some chick you follow on IG. Some of the skinniest people in the room could have the crappiest health because of how they eat. Make your goals realistic. Take baby steps! . This past year I’ve been working on my health and mindset. Honestly when I see this picture, I feel like nothing’s changed. And this is how I also know I need to work on my mindset. You know why? My clothes fits better, the scale says I’ve lost weight, and overall I feel better than I did a year ago. I’m constantly, and I mean almost everyday, reminding myself that everyone loses fat differently and 10-20 lbs loss may look different on everyone. . I made this post to say, be realistic, be forgiving if you missed a gym day, but love yourself enough to know what is good for you. Dont do it for other people. Do it for yourself. And if anything, do it for the people who you want to spend a long life with. ☺️ . . What is your experience with body image, health and fitness? Share below.

We continue highlighting Hmong artists during Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Hmong with our ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: KHATY XIONG @khatyxiong From her own words: Poetry has long been a part of my life. I think, as a Hmong person, it's almost impossible to avoid it. Naturally, my complicated relationship to my identity, Hmong history, which is still shrouded in a lot of mystery, and the songs and stories of my parents are the reasons for why I write. There are a lot of narratives out there, but Hmong voices rarely get to tell them, especially in academic spaces. Throughout much of my years in literary studies, including college and grad school, I seldom came across a published Hmong poet or writer. So I decided I would dedicate my life to the craft. After all, I had so many questions. In 2015, I published my debut book, Poor Anima, with Apogee Press. It holds the distinction of being the first full-length collection of poetry to be published by a Hmong American woman in the United States. I have also held a Nadya Aisenberg Fellowship at The MacDowell Colony, which supported the making of my second poetry manuscript-in-progress, and an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council. My work has been seen in Poetry Magazine, the New York Times, How Do I Begin?: A Hmong American Literary Anthology, and elsewhere. Adulthood part 3: Fear of the Unknown For many of us, our parents may not have been able to help us navigate life the way we would have liked to because of cultural and language barriers, discord in the family, or maybe you just never had role models show and teach you. Among the many many reasons why, navigating adulthood can be daunting and even scary. This can cause us to doubt ourselves, impact our confidence and even fear our true potential. Sometimes we may even think, “Who am I to dare to dream big?” Over time I’ve learned that assessing risk and success when pursuing our goals and dreams is a skill that can only be honed from experience. In other words, sometimes you have to have the courage to just do it and believe in it. A mere assessment of the consequences of a decision without the experience to back it up can limit us from reaching our fullest potential. How do you get over fear of the unknown?

Focus on your journey - I used to always compare myself to everyone around me wondering why I haven’t achieved what they have. - Friends getting married, landing amazing jobs, buying slick cars and huge houses, starting families, and everything we’re taught to want growing up. - Then I realized that everyone has their own journey. Not everyone’s is meant to be the same and there is no one right way to accomplish things and live your life. - Understand that where you are right now is exactly right and you’ll get yours in due time. - I’m keeping my head down, staying strong in faith, and working hard every day to get to where I need to be and will not worry about where my peers are in life. - It’s a hard switch to make but a much needed switch to be happy and love yourself. Enjoy your journey. at Mill Ruins Park

My next set of items specifically target my people, the Hmong. When I created this postcard, which is gonna also be a card, I thought about how much you miss your siblings when they go off to college, move, or get married because now you're stuck doing all the work with one less helping hand. Right now it is bamboo season and the Hmong people love their shoots! I wanted to start some funny cards and cute stationery paper. It will be available soon. More coming soon! #hmong #hmoob #postcard #bamboo #bambooshoots #bambooseason #ncbamboo #funny #digitalart #card

It's never too early to think about Christmas. Here's a peek at a new design. I'll be having new Christmas card designs this year! eeek~ I'm pretty excited. 😆 Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of content lately. I've been feeling kind of lost with my artwork and what direction I want to take. I'm hoping to figure some things out and come back with new (and some old) products that I'm very proud of and others will love too. Thank you for all the love and support. JUST DO IT (Eh oui, Nike avait raison 😅) . Thank you too to all the persons I met in Bali. I am so happy to cross your way and I wish you safe travels around the world. I wish to see you again 😚 #bali #indonesia #indonesie #nusapenida #beach #plage #voyage #travel #roadtrip #backpack #2k19 #2019 #sincerity #honesty #love #amour #asian #asia #asie #asiatique #hmong #hmoob #laos #france #french #baliwow #cocktail #14days #strawberrydaiquiri #nofilter
