Are you hitting it out of the park or swinging and missing when it comes to your kids and their sodium intake?
I’ll be honest, one, I think way more about sugar compared to salt, and two, my kids take in too much salt. In fact, this morning all three boys dumped Old Bay Seasoning on their eggs because “dad didn’t add enough salt.”
Here’s the deal: 90% of kids ages 6-18 eat too much salt, and their preference for salty foods can be shaped early in life.
The salty 6 offenders for kids are: pizza, burritos/tacos, sandwiches, bread/rolls, cold cuts and soup.
If your child falls into the 90% category, no need for an overhaul (their tastebuds won’t appreciate that), just start small.
Our one small change this week will be making our own 🍕 for Friday Pizza/Movie Night instead of ordering Dominos.
