Healthy tortang giniling (Ground chicken omelette) I made a twist on my mother’s specialty (hers is ground pork without malunggay). So I've started a #fatfast today after falling off the wagon a few times this weekend. I did the #eggfast for 3 days last week and dropped 1 kilo. That's not too bad but I just couldn't do another day of just eggs anymore. I feel #fatfasting will work a bit better as I have more options of what to eat. 3 ingredient Winter Soup! 🍜🍠❄ Makes about 3 servings . Sweet potatoes and butternut squash are loaded with nutrients, and both are very high in Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an antioxidant and great for boosting the immune system, skin, teeth, eye, bone and organ health. . 1 large sweet potato 1/2 large Butternut squash Filtered water -just enough to cover potato and squash in boiling pot . Peel and cut potato and squash into small pieces. The smaller the pieces, the quicker they cook. . Boil them in clean, filtered water until fork tender - about 20-30 minutes depending on size . Pour everything from pot into blender or food processor and blend until smooth. . WE over complicate so many things for ourselves. Once I gave into this lifestyle and I went all in, I realized how simple it really was to have true balance. ⁣ ⁣ CLEAN EATING, it really is a simple concept. Eat more FOOD, whole, natural foods with plenty of variety. Doing your best to pair lean proteins with complex carbs like fruits, veggies, and whole grains...MOST of the TIME. Do this while you also eat less CRAP. Ditch the highly processed foods that are often a trigger to binges, cycles of bad choices, lack of energy and guilt. ⁣ ⁣ You can continue to enjoy, on occasion, some favorites. But always be asking WHAT that food is going to do for your body and mind. Giving into mindless cravings...is it really going to fill a void? Nope. Are those whole, natural choices going to FUEL your body for life, for energy, for general well being and lead to greater confidence? Yup, they will. ⁣ ⁣ Top those good choices off with plenty of water each day and you can call yourself a clean eater. That doesn't mean you won't indulge in TREATS (unclean favorites) from time to time, but you do limit them and approach them with all new principles and meaning. Goodness, I may have even talked myself out of starting my 3 week detox just because of the temptation of a cupcake ahead 😜. I had already planned my week ahead based on the detox, but I mapped out a balanced plan for the week instead (after that clicklist pick up). Haha, it will still happen, just adjusted a bit. Oh, and roasted veg that I’ve made from a previous post. • So I genuinely cannot get enough of roasted herb gnocchi and curry chickpeas at the moment. I’m OBSESSED. Super easy to make. Especially when 50% of the time they’re sitting in trays in a toasty 200°C oven. The crispy and chewy element the gnocchi brings to the dish is insurmountable. • Hummus. She’s just sitting there. Felt like posting something so here’s a #vegan dinner that I normally eat when I have tofu. I love Thai food so when I have this peanut dressing it really brings out the flavor. More details below ⬇️ . Deets: Half a block of tofu marinated in LS soy sauce, maple syrup (or honey if not vegan) and garlic. This is a giant batch of wheat berries all cooked and ready to make breakfast bowls for the week (and plenty to portion out for the freezer too). Wheat berries are right up there as one of my favorite breakfast grains (with potatoes). I love them with sweet or savory additions. Nothing fancy about them - they're just a whole unadulterated "kernel" of wheat. . I pour a bunch into my crockpot, add water until covered by about 2 inches, cook on low at least 6 hours and drain. Another #foodprepsunday and this week it's our tried and tested apple and coconut granola and an experimental banana and chocolate protein loaf. Both smell amazing! Try the banana and chocolate protein bread. Heat the oven to 180/ gas mark 4. Ingredients 185g plain flour 1tsp bicarbonate of soda 3-4 ripe bananas 2eggs 1.5 TBS coconut oil 3 squares of dark chocolate 100ml of milk Squeeze of lemon 2 scoops of chocolate whey protein (or similar) 1Tbs maple syrup Seeds for topping Method Sift the flour into a large bowl and add the bicarbonate of soda. Mash the bananas in a separate bowl and add the eggs, maple syrup, coconut oil, chocolate, milk, lemon and whey protein powder. Mix well and then fold into the flour. Once combined pour into a greased loaf tin , top with a few mixed seeds and pop in the oven. Bake for 45-60 mins until well risen and cooked through (poke a knife into the centre and it should come out clean). You may want to lightly cover with foil to stop the top from burning. Makes 10 slices at 197 calories and 9.8g of protein per slice. Enjoy at Fundamentally Fit

DONE!!! It's only been a few weeks out of the kitchen but already a bit rusty...🙄 Mistakenly had the slowcooker on medium not low, so by the time I got back home the lamb was crisp...the juice completely dried out, black in fact ... the pot is still soaking in soapy water 😭😢 But the couscous turned out great. Chickpeas, chilli, red peppers, ginger and a bit of tomato puree. The seasoning, fresh cardamom seeds, cumin, garlic, dried paprika crushed in a morter and bound together with lemon juice. Dietitian Amanda Frankeny @mannybfrankeny shares how she made a quick batch of Italian Wedding Soup.🍲🍲 #soupsunday ! "I first added broth (4 cups), Italian seasoning (1 Tbsp), and diced veggies (1 onion, 2 carrots and 2 celery ribs) to a large stockpot and placed that on medium heat. While I was waiting for that to boil, I quickly made some meatballs with ground beef, 1/2 cup parmesean, 1 tsp italian seasoning, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, a few dashes or Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 cup breadcrumbs and 1 egg. I used my hands to mix and form into little meatballs. Once these were ready I tossed them into the boiling vegetable mixture and boiled the entire mixture until the meatballs were cooked through!" Staying on track . Something that I’ve struggled with as far as my food and fitness over the years! . I’ve made a lot of mistakes which has given me the opportunity to learn a lot! . I’m a huge outdoors girl so I often find myself doing outdoor activities for hours on end! . Hiking and running aren’t very compatible with packing large cumbersome meal prep containers or a shaker cup for a protein shake. . This would lead to me going for hours and hours without eating and then making a bad eating decision on the way home because I was famished! . Since @1stphorm released their Level-1 protein bars I’ve found a good solution to that problem. . They are small, fit in a pocket or my water belt, and have 20 grams of protein making them a great choice for a meal on the go! . I love learning ways to stay on track while living the lifestyle I enjoy! . Another side benefit I’ve noticed since I’ve added in these protein bars is I have no sweet tooth whatsoever anymore. .
