It is Monday! While you might be a lucky one who has the day off today, I am not I have work. BUT, I am trying not to let Monday’s get to me anymore. While yes the weekends are nice, Monday is just another day. Another day to work, another day to eat healthy and clean, another day to get a work out in, another day to journal, another day to feel good. Monday is just a word, don’t let it dictate the kind of day you want and can have! Get up, move around. Drink water. Stretch. Take a deep breath. Only you have the control get out of the day what you want, don’t waste it, don’t sleep it away, make it yours, cross something off of that to do list. Work towards that goal. 👉Tag a friend who would benefit from this advice! Intermittent fasting by @4square.fit . Intermittent fasting consists in having regular short periods of fasting. Typically as in the diagram, every day from 8pm to noon (ie skipping breakfast effectively). Alternatively from 4pm to 8am (skipping dinner) or 2 days of fasting then 5 days normal. The most popular and probably easiest to adhere to seems to be the skipping breakfast version. . Science seem to support a large number of health benefits. However many of them are based on animal studies (such as prolonged life or reduce cancer risk) and warrant more human research. . Many people focus on IF as a way to reduce calorie and weight. Here science seems pretty clear. It is like all other weightloss diet as effective as you can reduce calorie intake. So great if you can adhere to it but nothing magical. . There is also a debate regarding compatibility of IF vs strength training. IF goes against the usual belief that you need a caloric surplus to gain strength. This weekend I was honoured with the YOUTH ICON award by the Doon Youth Rocks Foundation. Honestly this came as such a “good” shock! I mean look at me, me? Youth icon? Uhhhhhh 🤨 . . But for my dad to get up on a stage and receive this award on my behalf, was a feeling of immense happiness! We often underestimate our own achievements and work simply because we feel like we haven’t done enough to own that! In the world that we live in today, it’s the easiest to feel bogged down with the pressure and competition that surrounds us! For me, personally Fitness has ceased to become just my passion. It’s slowly turned into my *calling*. Everything that I post or talk about is simply what I feel are day to day struggles for normal young people like you and i. I don’t have the best body and neither am I any sort of a life coach. I’m simply passionate about pushing people to #love themselves for who they are, appreciate their #body and work towards getting #stronger physically and mentally. Just to help women understand their potential outside of domestic life. Just to propagate that #fit comes in all #sizes and #muscles and not just for #men (haha sorry had to say that) . . If you’re new to the gym I highly recommend starting with machines. 1) it’s less likely you’ll injure yourself compared to using dumbbells 2) most machines have a sticker with how to use it so you can’t go too wrong. Ask a PT at your gym if you’re unsure how to use anything. One of the biggest mistakes people make when they work abs is that they don't think about breathing. - Most people perform ab exercises when there's a lot of air in their stomach still, preventing their abs from contracting properly since the air acts as a cushion. This is why people don't see any difference in their abs even if they work abs every day. - Breathe in when you are at the start of the movement (whether it is crunches, sit-ups, leg raises, etc.) and slowly breathe out as you contract your abs. This will release the oxygen in your stomach, allowing you to contract your abs all the way! - The cable crunch is the best exercise to build thick blocky abs as it is weighted putting the abdominal muscles under further resistance! 👊🏻
