ABsolutely a beautiful day to be alive ☀️ • I slept 11 hours last night (haven’t done that in literally ages) and i feel AMAAAAAZING! I needed that so bad! I never had a break after finals to graduation to working full time so I have been so exhausted. I was able to sleep so much last night and I can’t express how great it was. 😭 #tearsofjoy #finallyarest • went to the gym and did 15 minutes of HIIT on the arc trainer followed by 10 minutes of LISS on the treadmill! 🤸🏻‍♂️ Also decided to do some stretching and right into abs. Rome wasn’t built in a day🏗 But.... - I want to explain how easy it is to make progress ins such short amounts of time. All you need to do is break down the overall goal into small steps🤞🏻🏋🏼‍♂️ - For example , I always had a lacking back, I focused on horizontal rows which would build the thickness and vertical rows which would develop my width. Apparently it’s international Yoga day today!🧘‍♀️ I’ll be the first to admit, I’m no expert yogi🌚 or even reeally a yogi for that matter... and whilst this IS a yoga pose, it’s not necessarily ‘yoga’! - I read a great post (by an actual qualified yogi🙌) @shona_vertue about yoga being a state of mind, not the snapshot poses (like dis👆🏽) you see on the gram! - Yoga for me is not following a set ‘flow’, sequence, or routine... I literally just move, stretch, & breathe how I feel my body wants to in a controlled way! No rules. - It did get me thinking why I love incorporating elements of yoga into my training though... I Here’s why I do: 1. It helps me slow down & calm my million mile/hr brain thinking about my to-do list🤯 2. It keeps my muscles & joints mobile which supports my training in the gym AND other aspects of my day-day life🤸‍♀️ 3. It gives me a sense of balance with the high intensity/fast paced lifestyle I sometimes lead💃🏋️‍♀️ - If you ‘yoga’, why do you do it? I often get asked what’s the best advice I can offer to someone when it comes to working out. My answer is to learn to love the process. Workout because you want to feel better physically, workout as an outlet to all your stress, workout because you want to push your body to new limits. 🐫Do the Humpty Dumpty🐫 There are some good and bad resistance bands out there and there is a difference when it comes to ‘Hip Circle’ bands. Look, I get it - the last thing you need to see is ANOTHER fitness photo with a long ass caption but tbh, i could careless. I want to continue to show young girls, mums, older women, younger teenagers, boys - WHOEVER IT IS, that they too can make changes in their life. I know how it feels to be insecure about your body and not feel confident. Even to this day I’m still low key scared to just wear this type of outfit to the gym because I’m not the fittest and I don’t feel 100% comfortable doing it - it’s just not me (unless I’m doing a video or PHOTOSHOOT) ..so I don’t. However, every time I go to the gym - I definitely do push myself to do something that is out of my comfort zone because having confidence gives you posture and you should be in the gym worrying about getting the gains and nothing else. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE YOU START - you can learn and blossom where you are planted. HAHAHHA AS YOU CAN SEE, NO I WAS NOT “BLESSED” or lucky, IT IS NOT IN MY GENES, I DON’T BELIEVE IN SHORTCUTS OR FAD DIETS AND NO IT WASN’T AN EASY ROAD✋ I’m sorry y’all have to hear me repeat this but I want to show you that even my before photo was TECHNICALLLY my after photo. 😐😐😐 A lot of people will say “it was easy cos you started off skinny” but guess what? I wasn’t like that before that photo either. HAHAHA my before photo NOW was my AFTER photo at the time🤔 I had a phase during my surgery where I was unhealthy, unwell and unhappy with my body. After my surgery I was NOT ABLE TO DO ANYTHING. I didn’t care about myself enough to even exercise until my best friend at the time started training and all I knew was the treadmill and cycling machine 🚲🏃🏻‍♀️ I obviously have had progress shots in between and NO it hasn’t taken me 6 years to get to where I am. However, what I’m trying to say is that, I have had SO MANY ups and downs in my fitness journey over the past few years where I jump on the fitness train and jump straight off🤦🏻‍♀️ Habits take time when you replace the bad with good ones. When I was 18, I used to work 50hours at my old job which included grave yard shifts, juggle six days of university and attended business events so that I could provide more support to my household. My health was not a priority and I burnt out. No amount of money is worth sacrificing your health. I am so thankful for everything I’ve learnt about living a healthier lifestyle and taking care of myself. I’m so proud of who I am and how far I’ve come because this is only the BEGINNING.
