This painting is officially in its new home at Equilibrium Therapeutics! ❤️ Thank you @artiseverywhere.ca Lynn Feasey for volunteering your time to install this huge painting, and posing beside it for reference of the scale 😉 Meaningful description below!!👇🏽👇🏽💝 ”I often wonder what our ancestors think about. I wonder how they see us, and I wonder how they hear us. When I began my journey of grieving for my grandmother, I imagined her always in flight. I remember feeling her presence often and I could feel her protecting me. I began to visualize this new relationship I shared with my grandmother, something more profound than a physical embrace or the exchange of words. I imagined her above, that I could not see her, but that she could see me. This imagery would comfort me even in the worst of times, and eventually it took visual form.
The Tlingit people are a matrilineal society, so I follow my grandmothers’ clan. The subject matter is an eagle, representing our moiety. The eagle is used as a metaphor, an embodiment of the timeless love a granddaughter and grandmother share. This painting now, at least I hope, serves the purpose of soothing anyone whom may cross its path. Whenever I look up at the eagle, my heart feels a warm embrace. My only hope is that other will feel the same, and that this work may be of service in building a little more of a gentle world.” Gunalchéech
