Practicing gratitude has changed my life.
Last year, one of my best friends gave me the @fiveminutejournal. I loved the sentiment, but I was immediately worried about adding another item to my daily to-do list.
Little did I know, that journal would turn into one of my most important parts of my day. Now, it’s not a task; it’s a gift I give myself daily.
Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my big dreams, lofty goals, and high expectations that I can’t notice the little splendors life throws at me.
Not only does practicing gratitude make me happier and more present, but it gives me the opportunity to appreciate the little moments I usually dismiss.
Everything from carving out ten minutes to talk to my mom, to stumbling into a new coffee shop, to getting to sleep in an extra hour; they’re all beautiful things that make my life better no matter how small they seem.
My life no longer revolves around merely checking things off my bucket list or my 5-year plan. My life is a dance around milestones, serendipity, and the tiny sparks of joy along the way.
