While everyone is consumed by showing how much they’ve changed in terms of physical appearance over the last decade, I will take a moment to express what I have learned and achieved professionally in this time period.
Back in 2009, I was a typical studious kid – struggling to get enrolled for my Bachelor's degree.
The plan of becoming a doctor went somewhere down the drain, so I was glad to trade places with another plan and pursued my degree choosing Business subjects.
At that time, I had not given much thought to my passion for writing. It had always been there – I knew that – but somehow, I failed to muster the courage to write a book. Once I did, there was no turning back.
I managed to finish writing my first book and at the same time continued accepting Rector’s and Dean’s Merit awards graciously which then led me to secure my Master's degree with a gold medal.
I landed a decent job – a job that helped me pay my bills. While I was at it, I managed to get my first book published, on my own. Yes, I opted for self-publishing and invested my hard-earned money on it.
My efforts were finally paid off when I landed a great deal with Penguin Random House India for my second book as well as my first one. Since then, life has become fairly easy, if not the best. Every day, I feel like I’m living my dream.
Yes, I got rejected – multiple times. Between facing countless rejections and knock-backs, there was one thing I did not give up. I did not give up TRYING.
Now, when I come to think of it, I wouldn’t have managed to get three books published in the last few years if I had stopped trying back then. I am glad I didn’t.
Presently, I am blessed with a great job and many more stories to write ❤️ #grateful
