Recently, I had come to the realisation that if I wanted to improve as a lifter (notably in my deadlift), I would need someone who has an expert eye to look over my form and suggest any changes that need to be made. . And thus @phatmuscle89 recommended @sumoking91 to me. . And it was worth the journey, 100%. . Being able to have someone who is just as honest and detailed, if not more, about sumo look over my form was exactly what I needed. I had only gotten so far with being self-taught and needed a little boost to help push things further. . The changes implemented are subtle BUT I could not have seen them myself. Which is why Russell was very very very very helpful. I came away from our 2 hour coaching session with an actual lightbulb moment (or several). And was very very chuffed 😊 . If you want to be good at anything you do, always get help. And get appropriate help from someone you trust. It doesn't matter about the journey etc, if you are able to do it, then do it! . It was also a treat to be able to (almost) outangle Sam and Russell and that made it worth the trip too 😂😂😂 . Here's to more deadlifts that feel better than they do not. . Thank you so much Russell. I am very very grateful for your help. And thank you Sam for such a great recommendation. ✨A C T I V A T E✨ . The Importance of Activating Key Muscles; Focusing on the 🍑 . A huge majority of us (myself included) sit hunched over at a desk all day, causing our glutes to be inactive & unable to fire properly when we do move around & exercise. Unfortunately, if you aren’t actually activating your glutes during your workouts, this could potentially lead to pain in the lower back, hips, knees & ankles; restricting you from being able to run as fast or lift as much as you would like to. It could also be a leading factor as to why you aren’t seeing booty progress/gains despite the fact that you are frequently training your lower body! 🤷🏼‍♀️ . Glute Activation isn’t just about incorporating squats/lunges/deadlifts etc into your workouts. It’s about loosening up the muscles that are tight from sitting at a desk all day & then activating them before you get into those main exercises. At the start of your program, try follow this 3 step warm up process to essentially wake up your muscles & get the most out of your workout: 1️⃣Foam Roll (30-60 sec window) 2️⃣Stretch 3️⃣Activate* . 🔻*How to Activate🔻 Using a resistance band, choose 2-4 of the example exercises below (try include at least one lateral & one sagittal plane movement). Complete 2-3 sets of 20 reps (with a 2-4 sec hold at the top) before you smash your session. 💛 ▫️Glute Bridge ▫️SL Glute Bridges ▫️Clamshells ▫️Ankle Jumping Jacks ▫️Lateral Band Walks ▫️Standing Glute Kick ▫️Banded Walks ▫️Squat to Lateral Leg Lifts ▫️Donkey Kicks ▫️Bridge Pulses ▫️Fire Hydrants . Glute finisher!🔥 So today’s workout was all about the finishers, and I will explain that soon however I wanted to leave you all with this amazing glute one for this gorgeous Friday! When you train glutes you really need to feel the burn! It can be so hard to activate and wake up those glutes so throwing in variations like this will seriously help you out. Wall Hip thrusts. Lie about 90 degrees from the wall- as a good starting measure. I like to tuck my chin otherwise my torso does not stay aligned and tight (ie my back curves- you want a straight flat back always in hip thrusting!). Make sure your feet are far enough that there is tension in your @fitbandsza and squeeze at the top! Glutes activation video finally🙈🙈 After being highly DMtized for glutes workout requests, glutes nt growing complaints, reduction of thigh area, lower body fat reduction, toning of legs n glutes n blah blah blah..🤪. we all know these questions ?? Answer as per me are ✌reasons which i have also learnt by doing same mistakes again n again 🤦‍♀️but dont u think thats what make me a learner. 🙏 👉First n foremost :its for all body parts just nt glutes🙈. Activation is the key, of that particular muscle that u wanna train. 👉Second n still foremost 🤭: dont cheat ur exercises by engaging various muscles, thats when u dont get the result for the muscle that u wanted. So when its glutes day🙋‍♀️train glutes, lift with glutes, dnt try n lift heavy when u cant isolate the muscle. Establishing the mind body connection is very very imp. LESS CALORIES WITH MORE FOOD?! 😮 . Look at the amount of filling foods you could eat in replacement for a whole tube of Pringles 🤭 - Erm hello 😋! I mean YES PLEASE 😍 - So quite often when a client jumps on board and starts following a fat loss goal they tend to panic that they’re eating too much food and they feel way too ‘full’ to be dieting! - This is understandable if you have adapted to a diet that is full of high calorie ‘snack’ foods that don’t leave you feeling full. . There is nothing wrong with dieting this way HOWEVER this will NOT keep you satisfied for long before you reach for another high calorie snack. Hence why you end up having a higher calorie day on less food! .
