FINALLY back on the official platform after a 1 year hiatus learning how to weightlift. 🏋♂ Snag 2nd place - Not bad for a first comp in a stacked 67kg class.
Did NOT miss weight cutting at all... 70.5kg ➡ 66.9kg in 6 days. Thanks to @primeperformance__ for planning and executing a very successful weight cut. This was by far the least stressful of weight cuts as I was still able to eat ice cream till the very end and no sauna required! 😉
One take home from this comp is that you REALLY need a good coach and handler to worry about warm ups and attempt selection. This shit was constantly changing! Bit of a different ball game to Powerlifting where it can be a bit more predictable. If you're Interested in weightlifting definitely see @phillip.pt
Thanks to the fam who gave up their time to come watch, @adonisathleticsgranville for allowing me the space to train with my awesome ass music ( #hardstyletillidie) and everyone who slid into my DMs with support.
Videos to come ... #Repost ・・・
Big congrats to @bbk.nguyen who competed in his first official weightlifting competition yesterday. He had a fantastic performance, going 5/6 with a 86kg PB snatch and 107 PB clean.
You only ever get one first comp and he made the most of it.
If youre thinking about competing at a weightlifting competition, and ESPECIALLY if it's your first time... tell your coache(s) what you want. If you feel overwhelmed with the instructions being given to you, let them know. 'Coach, one cue only please.'
Personally, I do not like any more than one cue for myself as a competitor. Everything else goes in one ear and out the other.
With Ken, we focused only on one technical cue - fully extend and one emotive cue, get aggressive. That was it.
