A year and a half ago, I decided to see whether my creative flow would improve if I stopped drinking alcohol. It was something I had been thinking about for a long time before I felt brave enough to try it. 😶Drinking is very socially accepted, and even encouraged. I share my story about why I decided to take a break from drinking, what the adjustment period was like, and how it affected my creative work and my perspectives on the experience (link in bio). ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ 🤔 It’s been eye-opening to look at the ripple effect that habits and lifestyle choices can have on other areas of life and work. Have you made any lifestyle changes in order to better serve your creative practice? 🌱⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ #creativeflow #alifeofintention #cornersofmyworld #ofquietmoments #theslowdowncollective #fosterthoughtfulness #mindfulness #thesincerestoryteller #livewholeheartedly #arthealing #dohardthings #liveyourbestlife #myrelationshipwithalcohol #alcoholfree #sobriety #makersandthinkers #hashtagauthentic #gouachestudy #interiorpaintings #artafternoon #dailypainters #afternoonart #dailypaintingchallenge #representationalpainting #gesturalpainting #gouacheonpaper #dailypaintworks #paintingpractice #paintdaily #painteveryday ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀

“Alexander #Calder and Pablo #Picasso – two of the most seminal figures of twentieth-century art – innovated entirely new ways to perceive grand themes. While the resonances between them are filled with endless possibilities, a key connection can be found specifically in their exploration of the void, or the absence of space, which both artists defined from the figure through to abstraction.” @museepicassoparis Via @meandmybentley at Musée Picasso Paris
