Our legendary guitar solo of the day is the solo performed in "THE LONER" by the legendary guitarist Mr. JOHN NORUM. John Norum plays The Loner tribute to Gary Moore. "The Loner" is a song by Gary Moore and appears on the album Wild Frontier released in 1987 written by Max Middleton and Gary Moore. The album is dedicated to the memory of Moore's close friend and former Thin Lizzy bandmate Phil Lynott, who died on 4 January 1986, with the words "For Philip" on the rear cover. John cited "Gary Moore was number one for me. I like it when a guitar player does things that sound impossible to play, basically! Gary was left-handed, too,” notes the guitar player, “which gave him a certain tone playing right-handed. That’s why there’s an amazing tone, because there’s this strength in his left hand". John Terry Norum (born 23 February 1964 in Vardø, Norway) is a swedish rock guitarist and one of the founders of the Swedish rock band, Europe. He also influenced by John Sykes and Michael Schenker. When asked about his playing, Joey Tempest once said “John Norum is like a man possessed. On stage he performs as if channeling the guitar greats of the 1960s and 1970s that have served to inspire him. But he always delivers in his own unique style, with a hint of blues, of course. I can think of a few other guitarists that play with as much feeling and passion as John.” His guitar goes through the Wah into the chorus pedal, from where the separate outputs connect to the two amp heads, with the delay connected in the effects loop of the JCM 800 only.
