• Venus •
Named after the Roman deity of love and fertility, Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system despite being the second away from the Sun. This is because the first terrestrial planet, Mercury, has an incredibly thin atmosphere and thus, Venus absorbs more of the heat. Studies show that Venus’ atmosphere, the densest out of all the terrestrial planets, has traces of sulfuric acid in the clouds. However, the resulting droplets never touch the surface as they evaporate beforehand. The acid additionally has high electrical conductivity, allowing lightning to occur on Venus. Strangely, Venus rotates clockwise as opposed to the usual counterclockwise rotation of the other planets. Aside from these major differences, however, Venus is quite similar to Earth in terms of mass, distance from the Sun etc.
