💡 Bulgarian Split Squats 💡 The Bulgarian split squats is an exercise that is often overlooked in day to day training. It may seem like a poor alternative to a standard barbell back squat but this couldn't be further from the truth. When performed correctly this exercise can have significant benefits and will revamp your leg days, guaranteed! Check out some of the reasons you should give these a go! 1️⃣ Avoid back pain The Bulgarian split squat places significantly less stress on the lower back since you’ll be performing the movement one leg at a time and using a lot less weight. In addition, if you perform the exercise using dumbbells for additional weight, you’ll be holding the weights at your sides as opposed to carrying a heavy loaded bar directly on your back. This will allow you to maintain tension on the glutes, hamstrings and quads without loading the spine. 2️⃣ Can be performed anywhere This is a relatively simple exercise in terms of the equipment it requires. Anywhere you can elevate your back leg will allow you to perform some Bulgarian split squats. This means you can throw these into any gym routine and even add them into your home workouts to maximize the tension you place on the legs during your session. 3️⃣ It's a killer! Plain and simple, when this exercise is performed correctly it is horrific. It will add size to your quads, hams and glutes, and will also increase single leg strength and improve stability. Add in the benefit of increased mobility and the fact it will promote hip flexibility and it's a winner all day. How to know if you are doing your hinge right.... it can be really tough if you can’t see yourself. Why do you need to be able to hinge? It’s used in a lot of exercises! Not just the dead lift! (But that is a whole other topic) Think about a wall being behind you (or stand in front of something that won’t be offended if you touch it with your butt) What you should feel is your hips leading the movement. As your hips go back, you work from the core to maintain a nice stacked spine, don’t arch your back. As you do this, your chest should naturally drop down to allow the hips to continue to move back. Try to touch whatever is behind you ( or imagine touching). Could be a wall or a standing foam roller or a plyo box. After you touch this with your butt, you should be feeling your core working to maintain your neutral spine and your hamstrings working and your upper back working so you don’t round your shoulders towards the floor. To stand, drive your heels into the floor to create the equal and opposite reaction! Think about your hamstrings and flutes firing to bring you up to a stand and drive the hips forward. Don’t initiate the movement from the chest. If your hips are moving back in the downward phase, you should be able to draw the yellow triangle I posted in the photo. At a stand, you should be in a straight line- don’t push your hips so far forward that you arch the low back. Once you see this happening in a mirror, you should feel your posterior chain firing! Have you ever wanted to give up when it gets hard? And did? Have you ever wanted to push thru to the end to see what your results will be? Have you ever had to pause for a second to catch your breath and tell yourself that you don’t have to quit? . All of these are ME! Honestly and complete vulnerability at the moment, I have such a hard time with my knee and sometimes I wonder why I keep pushing it because of the damage I could re-cause or why I push myself knowing “I’m GOING to re-injure myself” . With today’s workout I was in TEARS!😭 Literal tears because I wanted to give up and quit! I refused and did some MAJOR modifying... but it still got done! My knee was bugging me and still is but I can’t give up on myself... I’m my own worst enemy, critic, and yet still best motivation I can have for me! . This program is not a joke and it’s not a want this is a NEED for me! I NEEDED something different and this is just week 1... DON’T SELL YOURSELF SHORT OR GIVE UP ON YOURSELF!! Go after your goals, crush them, and set new ones even higher! Every success came from a failure of some sort but even “failure” is only improvement for the future...🤷🏼‍♀️ . This video is time-lapsed so you may not be able to see me crying or holding my knee and grimacing at the pain... but it was there and it was intense. I will say this though, if you are rehabbing any type of injury please know your physical limitations and consult your doctor! I modified almost every move after 5 minutes in because my knee could not take the high impact. (It looks like I was doing great, but reality was I was STRUGGLING!!) But that did not give me the excuse to give up on myself. Push yourself and excel but take care of yourself too!💪🏼 . And if you NEED something different let’s chat, because this program is for anybody in any stage of life that craves something different whether it be in themselves mentally, physically, emotionally, or all of the above!💗

Vor einiger Zeit sah ich noch so aus.. 🤔 Könnte ich mir heute gar nicht mehr vorstellen. 😯😅 Ich war nie zufrieden mit meinem Körper, das hat mich immer extrem beherrscht und unglücklich gemacht - (Ich hätte mich eigentlich nicht unbedingt beklagen dürfen, aber manche Dinge ergeben einfach keinen Sinn)..🤦‍♀️ • • Ich hätte mir nie vorstellen können, dass ich jemals fast 3.000 kcal pro Tag zu mir nehmen könnte, früher lag die Grenze an guten Tagen zwischen 600 und 700 kcal. • • Mein damaliges Gewicht lag bei Maximum 41 kg heute wiege ich 62 kg und freu mich darüber. 😂🤷‍♀️👌 #strongissexy #strongnotskinny at Oberschleißheim
