Day 3 🔥 my shoulders definitely need more attention. They don’t cause me a lot of trouble which makes them easy to ignore, but I know they are not behaving as they should! Posted @withrepost@thelaurenohayon Day 3 mid #back and #shoulder mobility and strength. Amazing for new moms / anyone with a tight / rounded back. So simple and not requiring a ton of set up or props. I used 2 pounds weights and 2 washcloths. . . Beach workout goodness in Bali 🌴 ☀️ 🌊 💪 . Such an epic location for an outdoor workout playground! This is my favourite way to train: outdoors and with minimal equipment 👏🏋️‍♀️ . We kept it to full body, compound movements and a whole lotta monkey bar fun 🐒 😉 . Started with pull-ups and back squats, then deadlifts, pushups and an overhead push press. HOW TO KEEP YOUR GUNS CLEAN by @Charlie_Smith_Fit ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Strong, lean arms is a goal of most people who workout. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Guys want their t-shirts to be a little tight around their biceps. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And women don't want their triceps jiggling when they walk. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, you are probably working hard on getting those guns 💪how you want them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This means doing lots of curls, triceps pushdowns, dips, push-ups, & shoulder presses. All of these are great for your guns, but can be bad for your shoulder joint. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are 3 simple exercises that you can add into your arms routine (great as part of your warm-up => make sure to checkout my Shoulder Warm-up Post)... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💪External Rotation at 90* - using tubing, a band or cable column, face forward with your elbow at shoulder height & your elbow bent at 90*. Keeping your body still (no shrugging), rotate your arm til it's vertical & your hand is about head-height. Slowly rotate arm back to start. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💪Scapluar Push-Ups - THESE FEEL WEIRD at first - in push-up position, lock your elbows. Keeping your elbows straight, pinch your shoulder blades then separate your shoulder blades as far apart as you can (similar to the "cat" position in cat-cow stretch). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 💪External Rotation - using tubing, a band or cable column, hold the handle with hand away from machine. Have your elbow "locked" to your side & bent at 90* with your hand on your abs. Keeping your body still (no rotating), rotate your hand away from your body, stopping just short of rotating all the way to the side. Slowly return to the starting position. --------------- All 3 of these exercises are great for shoulder joint stabilization. Complex movements are the only movements worth doing in my opinion; they’re incredibly high yield, very functional and often include some aspect of mobility more often than not. However, they are a double edged sword. If done improperly, they can easily land you on a one way train to snap city; hence the importance of priming! Priming is an activation technique that can help to lessen the chance injury and boost the efficacy of any complex movement you plan to tackle.
