They say everything worthwhile is uphill, and it’s our duty to climb with intention every day. They say if you want to clean or snatch a certain weight, it begins with being able to front-squat it. Targeting 185 lbs clean and jerks, I hit that weight in front squats today, with some minor improvements possible. I’m new to front squats, and I can remember being barely able to hit 135. We’ve come a long way. But there’s a long road ahead as well. Upward and onward. Yay for having access to barbells again 🤩 - You can really take for granted things you’ve had the luxury of using. Like dumbbells heavier than 15 pounds. Or a stairclimber. Or a barbell 😂 - Delighted to be back in the good ole campus gym. The small, zero air conditoning gym is the one thing that will not be missed from Mexico 🙅🏽‍♀️ had a huge workout planned for today and then I remembered that I have to participate again in a 1 RM back squat research study tomorrow. Not wanting to be crushed and ruin results, I did some squats and got out. 6x6 working up to last two sets of 135. I like to start my week with a little bit of beast mode. . NEW PR FRONT SQUAT @ 90kg / 198lbs . Sequence of events: squat! Scream! High-five coach! Wait...check the weights. Calculate again... mental math... yeah! That’s right. 90kg! High-five again! . Since my knee operation 2 years ago i haven’t really chased new squat personal records. I love squats and i just built back a strong technique and was satistified with heavy-ish weights. But i wasn’t necessarily going after new personal bests. . If we talk about chasing progress and working on weaknesses, it’s more my gymnastics skills that need the extra work!! That’s what I’m focusing on. Soooo hard! . Grow booty grow 🍑 . Working out with a head cold is noooo joke. It’s one of those colds where you feel pretty poopy but not quite poopy enough to say no to a workout. So I took it slow but got er done 👊🏼 . My favorite move of today’s leg day would have to be barbell hip thrusts. My least fav? Front squats. Always has been — probably always will be 😬😩 . Monday’s in the books for me. Don’t skip your Monday workout. You’ll honestly be so glad that you didn’t!

17/6/19 My body clock must be hanging as I woke up naturally, albeit in a slight panic, at 5:40 ready for the gym with @livwellpt . I forgot to set my alarm but luckily I did not oversleep! 🥂🍾 . Worked through some heavy singles last week. Finally able to pull 405lb with hook grip, hurts like hell but worth it hehe. Yesterday's (Sunday's) reload deadlift session. Nothing crazy. Just trying to get back into the swing after a week of deloads. I. Deadlifts with 20kg bumper plates (just trying to make the deadlift bar more unstable to help improve balance and stability at lockout), 3 sets of triples. II. Banded deadlifts, working up to a double at RPE 8~8.5. III. SSB front squats, 2 x 2 at around RPE 7.5~8. IV. RDLs at around 180ish kg, 3 x 3. V. GHRs (not featured), 3 x 6. VI. Reverse hypers (not featured), 5 x 8, ramping. Vids. 1~3: 235kg (518lbs), 3 x 3. Vid. 4: 210kg (463lbs) + two orange bands, likely an extra 40~50kg (88~110lbs) at the top, x an easy 2. Vid. 5: 228kg (502lbs) + two orange bands, likely an extra 40~50kg (88~110lbs) at the top, x a more difficult 2. Trying to strengthen hip drive and lockout. Vids. 6~7: 173kg (381lbs), 2 x 2. Part of my problem is my femurs are so short compared to my upper body and my arms are short, too. All I can do is strengthen my hip drive. White Chocolate Peanut Blondie 🍫🥛🤤 . A variation on the @maximuscle brownie recipe I’ve posted previously, instead of the Chocolate whey, we have used cookies and cream flavour 🙌🏼 . PS - Recipe makes 16 but 12 are shown....👀😅 . Prep : 5-10 minutes Cook : 13-15 minutes Serves : 16 . Dry Ingredients •35g @maximuscle Promax Restore Cookies & Cream •1/2 tsp baking powder . Wet ingredients •1 tin of Chickpeas drained •120g Smooth Natural Peanut Butter •60g Honey •1 tsp Vanilla Extract . Toppings •20g White chocolate chips •@reeses White Peanut Butter Cups •Golden @oreo . Method Hand mash the chickpeas or place in a food processor until you reach the desired consistency and combine with the rest of wet ingredients . Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl and begin to gradually add the mixed dry ingredients to the mixed wet ingredients . Feel free to add a few tbsps of water, however the mix should be very thick so don’t overdo it! . Once mixed throw in the toppings and when evenly mixed, place in a brownie tin lined with baking paper and place in a preheated 180 degree oven for around 15 minutes ⏰ . WAS THAT 68KG??? 🤔😮 . PB again tonight. . My head thought it was 60kg 🙄 After the lift I saw the plates and thought it was 63kg #mathsteachercannotaddup Then The Blayze said it was 68kg 😮😮 It felt ok to lift, not a perfect lift but for some reason it did not feel like 68kg .
