One of the conscious steps I take towards improving and supporting balanced mental health is intentional exposure to the outdoors, nature, and it's beauty. 🐝
As a child I had to be outdoors everyday, and I noticed that I didn't feel well if I spent too much time indoors. 🌻
Over the years of entering adulthood and increasing responsibility, I lost the importance of spending time with nature. My recent trip to Washington, D.C. highlighted the fact that living within city limits makes time with nature difficult to achieve, and I felt the tension of nature's trying to hang on while it is progressively being paved over.🌈 When I lived in a large city, one that was also often blanketed by several feet of snow, to cope with this separation I would view images and sounds of the outdoors on social media. Running water, thunderstorms, birds chirping, the blowing wind, the sound of waves crashing on the beach, wind chimes; and each one of these would give me a temporary boost to make it until the next opportunity to spend time outdoors. 💜
If you are spending more time indoors than you'd like, consider this video from my nature walk yesterday as your boost to make it until you can go outside and experience the sounds, smells, and touch of nature. I sincerely hope that you can get outdoors soon, and notice how enriched the experience leaves you feeling.
