My dad had lived 66.5 years in the country side of Northwest Indiana surrounded by cornfields. He's toured the United States and dipped into Canada for a visit to Niagra Falls. Beyond that, he's never left North America. Last summer, when we decided to go on a trip together, I urged him to choose a country with a completely different culture than our own. When he chose Colombia as our destination, Juanchaco was the first place on my mind to visit because this place could not be more different than anything he's ever experienced. It was a place that, when I visted over a year ago, opened my eyes, surprised me, and changed some of my perspectives. It was so fun to watch him explore this little village and I think the time we spent out here was one of my favorite experiences of the trip! at JUANCHACO Y LADRILLEROS

The trees may be stark but, my oh my that sky is blue.⠀ ⠀ How do you handle cloudy days?⠀ ⠀ Part of the reason I rarely have cloudy pictures is that I just can't even gather the motivation to shoot anything under those conditions. The weather seems to sap me of all inspiration. A day like this is a gift and I will shoot to my little heart's content.⁣ at Santa Barbara, California

I was sitting on a bench at the park thinking “there’s no way I’m going to see sunset, the cloud cover is way too much.” So I packed up my stuff and drove back. Sure enough, I was sitting in my room and I could see this orange light coming in from the west window. I immediately grabbed my tripod and camera and bolted out the door, down the steps and out to the wharf. The colours were unfathomable. The whole west sky was a deep red with the blazing orange sun closing in on the horizon. The rest of the sky was attempting to continue to storm but the suns luminance was so powerful. The red was burnt into the still water while I watched all of the colours dissipate. This was probably the most colourful sunset I have ever witnessed. I am so thankful to live in such a beautiful place where sunsets like this are nothing more than a walk across the road. at Taylors Point Wharf

Today I had a moment (for a hot second) where I tripped over something in the bus, the dogs got scared and in turn spilled their water bowl, which lead to water everywhere and for that hot second I wanted to throw everything out of the bus and onto the curb for free pickup.. and then I realized - nope, don’t do that it’s your house and yes it’s currently a mess because everything from the old house is in the new one.. and that’s when I came across this picture I took, looking back in the mirror when I said my final goodbye to my house and said - “keep moving forward Denise, happiness and good health are ahead and in front of you - let this be the last time you look back” at Canton, Georgia

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. Harriet Tubman . . . . Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. And of course, I couldn't wait to show @npineda89 so I immediately sent it to her and we had a collective celebratory moment. These two. That light. Holy wow! While I didn’t have much time to explore the city itself, I will definitely be returning to it! . On that note, I’m also happy to be home. "Everyone should be quiet near a little stream and listen." - Ruth Krauss 🤫 . I think those are some very wise words by this great children's author. We all need quiet time just by ourselves. I know I do. And no one will give us that time. We need to claim it. It took me a long time to learn that I didn't need to be there for everyone who demanded my attention. Now I choose carefully what and whom I say yes to. And I'm trying to teach my son to do the same. 🌞 . . . . . #italy #canadiantravelblogger #canadianineurope #familytravel #nature_seekers #italia #canadianinitaly #travelphotography #lake #loveitaly #lagodibraies #green #mytinyatlas #kidswithpassports #kidswhowander #kidswhoexplore #canadianswhotravel #theglobewanderer #forgeyourownpath #nomad #tourist #myson #traveldeeper #worlderlust #travelingfamily #travelwithme #exploretocreate #liveauthentic #forahappymoment at Lago Di Braies

Our entire family loved Bologna including our 10-year old. His favourite thing? Well, right after pasta and ice cream, he'll tell you it was running under these arches. By the way, what's with the arches everywhere in Bologna? Does anyone know? When we were there late August it rained quite a bit. So our theory is they're there to protect the shoppers from rain. Anyone know for sure? 🇮🇹 . . . . . #italy #bologna #red #canadiantravelblogger #canadianineurope #canadianswhotravel #italia #canadianinitaly #urbanphoto #tourist #travelmom #getlost #loveitaly #colour #parentswhowander #theglobewanderer #alwaysgo #travelawesome #packyourbags #takethekids #kidswithpassports #kidswhowander #kidswhoexplore #familytravel #forgeyourownpath #myson #mytinyatlas #nomad #travelgram at Bologna, Italy

One benefit of waking up extra early is being able to take an extra long walk on the beach ✨ Still looking for the other benefits, but I wanted to thank you all so much for all the support and great tips on my post yesterday 💛 I am definitely going to get earplugs and might reconsider my current routine and sleep earlier 😃 Oh, and happy equinox!

We recently got new neighbors who get up at 5 AM every morning - and their kitchen is right above our bedroom 😔 Now, I am a morning person, but more of a 7 AM, not 5 AM person 😃 So the question is whether I should try adjusting to that morning noise that wakes us up anyway or try getting up at 5? 🤔 Do you have tips on how to wake up earlier and not feel like a zombie?

Between 1100-1200, more people lived here that at any other point. As people, goods and ideas converged, a complex society of thousands evolved. It is remarkable that this land, so hot and dry, supported such a large farming community. -paraphrased from one of the education trail signs. . . Makes me miss archaeology. 😓 I’m always happy to see these sites being protected, it’s so important to human culture to know where we came from. If I had to pick sommmmethingggg about our trip that was slightly disappointing, it would be Lake Powell. Not because it was disappointing, but because I got my hopes up about it and then found out that we needed to do a boat tour in order to see its splendor. So the lake itself was not in any way disappointing, just my research and it’s access. It was really cool to be able to drive on a small section of its beach though. at Utah

✨NEW BLOGPOST + GIFT✨ My dear friends, I am so excited to announce that my blog is now live 😊 Still lots of work to do, but I finally got around to writing about something I wanted to discuss for a long time - productivity 😊 I feel that while January was quite optimistic with all the resolutions, in February I wasn’t as focused as I wanted to be. With the new month rolling in, I thought I’d do a reset of sorts, so I am sharing my best progress tracking tool with you - a habit tracker ✨ Check the link in bio and get the free printable download (3 different designs) and if you know someone who might benefit from it, tag them below or send them the link to get the tracker 💛 at Auckland, New Zealand
