One last hurrah before liquid and soft foods for the boyfriend. On a rainy Sunday we decided to visit our friend @chefmatt79 for his amazing brunch. After chatting for a bit about what’s good on the menu (spoiler alert: it’s EVERYTHING), we finally ordered!
We started off with disco tots that were insanely crisp, even being smothered in gravy and melty mozzarella. Just check out that cheese pull! We scarfed down almost the entire platter, and I’m not even a big tater tot fan!
*For those that aren’t from NJ/NY, this is a play on our “disco fries,” a take on poutine and a drunken 3am diner order. Fries, gravy, and mozzarella cheese*
I ordered Chef Matt’s huevos rancheros with my eggs over easy. Two crispy corn tostadas topped with black beans, chorizo, eggs, and fresh salsa and guacamole. It looks messy, but that’s just because I tore right into it, no holds barred. Whenever Cheffy is cooking, it’s hard to wait before digging in!
The boyfriend ordered the sizzling breakfast skillet, which came out true to form. He gives you a huge skillet filled with hash browns, eggs, diced breakfast meats (bacon and pork roll), topped with cheese and gravy. I wasn’t even able to get a picture of this one!
All in all, another stellar meal by Matt (refer to an earlier prime rib post). We are very much looking forward to the next free Sunday to explore more of the menu. I’ve got my eye on a yogurt brûlée that looks out of this world 🤤
