I don't post #foodart as often as before because I focus on learning about my body and how to be stronger and leaner. I started my fitness journey with personal trainer @xoxomine_07 from #fitnessfirstalabang in September 2017. I must say it is not a difficult journey because I (really) love being disciplined and committed. Those qualities are my strength. I do what I say and I say what I do. Once I find my goal, I will put my 1000% effort to make it happen. I always do workout 6 times a week and focus on following program, even when I am on holiday.. not just doing this a little and doing that a little bit.. Like @kimschlagfitness said today ! SISSY SQUAT is a great exercise that will very effectively isolate the quadriceps muscles of the legs. "Bad for knees!" is the first impression many people have when they see a sissy squat, mostly because the knees go so much past the toes (this is a myth by the way). A lot of people also DO experience knee pain when they attempt sissy squats. Knee pain in sissy squats is the result of weakness in 1 or more of the 4 quadricep muscles (rectus femoris or vastus lateralis/medialis/intermedius). The reality is that sissy squat is a safe exercise to do, but it's an advanced exercise that requires strong and structurally balanced legs. Your quads already need to be in a great shape. Once the legs are relatively strong and the form of your sissy squats is slow, controlled and clean, the sissy squat becomes a phenomenal way to train your quads. Sissy squats when done right will add strength, size and mobility to your quads better than almost any other exercise out there. Sissy squat also demands and develops mobility in the ankles, lower back and many of the hip muscles (stabilization). I have struggled with this idea for almost a year now. I've swapped and changed my mind, doubted myself, fallen off track and then gotten back on. Tonight I'm sharing with you a challenge and commitment I've made for myself. Realistically I'm putting myself in a pretty vulnerable position, because if I fail, I'll do it on such a public platform. By March next year, I want to be walking on stage for my first ever fitness comp. This means the next ten months will be solely dedicated to food prep, training and sleep. I'll be sacrificing so many aspects of my life, drinking tea instead of dining out or alcohol, strict sleep times, more intense training, counting and tracking everything. And I'm going to document and share this whole journey with you. Why? Because I've got a long way to go before I'll be stage ready, but I want to be able to show anyone that if you put enough time, energy and focus into your goals, you can achieve it. I have never felt so mentally strong and focused in my life... it's actually shocked me a bit. I'm so lucky to have supportive and inspiring people in my life that will back me all the way, however I'm also prepared for people to doubt, mock and disagree with me. To them, I say bring it on. This will be the greatest and hardest challenge I've ever done. It's public now... My name is Madison, im 5'10 and ive lost 70 pounds. I went from 205 pounds to 135, and here is how I did it. I started out purely with keto. Which is a high fat low carb diet and around 1200 calories a day. Without working out and just doing keto I lost 50 pounds. But I didn't feel strong. I got a personal trainer and began working out every other day for an hour, 30 minutes of cardio, 30 minutes of weights. This is still my routine. From this I lost fat, and got a lower body fat %. But while work in out I had to add in more protein and reduce fat for it to be more safe. Eating out of your comfort zone —⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ At home I have a pretty balanced diet — the whole 80/20 split, i’m not intolerant to anything and don’t follow a specific diet 🌱🥦 🍫 However I am a little particular about choosing little things — for example I choose not to cook with lots of oil, I choose not to drink cows milk or eat cheese, I choose not to eat red meat, I choose not to have loads of condiments {like mayo, salad cream, ketchup}. Obviously I do still have these occasionally but if the choice not to is there — then I won’t.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ But on holiday we don’t always have these choices, especially when eating out in a foreign country. And sometimes we do need to step out of our comfort zones and just enjoy what we’re eating without stressing about the little things — like the amount of oil that is on the rather delicious meal that we’ve been given.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Sometimes we can’t choose everything we have and that’s OK! Small changes like this will not have a major effect on your progress.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ➡️ I didn’t turn down a coffee because they only had cows milk {literally no where has a dairy free alternative}⁣⁣ ➡️ I didn’t take back my tuna salad because it was covered in mayonnaise⁣⁣ ➡️ I didn’t stress because my pasta was mixed in a very cheese sauce⁣⁣ ⁣In fact, everyday I’ve eaten something that I don’t usually include in my normal diet!⁣ ⁣⁣ Embrace the local culture and enjoy the food 🙌🏼⁣ Like this amazing tapas we had including the BEST parmesan truffle fries and halloumi 🧀 Not eating cheese is pretty impossible in Greece 🇬🇷 at The Bourtzi, Skiathos
