Performing deadlifts develops the muscles and the movements that are involved in many forms of physical labor. Muscle Mass- To execute a deadlift, the primary muscles are the glutes, hamstrings and spinal erectors. If you do bent-knee deadlifts, your quadriceps are also heavily engaged. But no matter what icky mess life tries to throw at you- you have to keep moving forward, keep progressing, planning, and taking little steps. • patience, persistence, consistency, endurance.. you have to master these things in order to make it to your final destination. ✖️Yesterday did not go as planned✖️. . . Let me tell you, I’m all for plans. Planning my days & weeks & months. . . However, sometimes that all goes to shit - if we are being honest 😅. . . Yesterday I had the most productive day planned, wake up - doctor - work - hair cut for Nola - work while I wait - clients - coach basketball - workout - sleep. I was gonna absolutely kill the day. . . Until, the doctor said I had tonsillitis, which means I can’t be around kids (say buh bye to basketball), I can’t workout & I need to be on antibiotics. . . Alright, fine. I’ll get the antibiotics & find a sub for basketball & skip the gym. . . Then, I felt like garbage & ended up napping instead of working. I forgot my laptop charger, camera cord & headphones at home which meant I couldn’t work while I waited for Nola. I wasted gas driving home, I made unhealthy food choices, I whined & complained etc. Etc. . . BUT you know what I learnt? Having a plan is awesome. However we can’t relay fully on the perfect plan every day. Life happens. You get sick, you forget things, you run out of time, it’s just the way it goes. . . I also learnt that whining & complaining, getting frustrated did absolutely nothing to help. . . I learnt to focus on the things I can control. To be flexible when road blocks come. To have a plan A, B, C & D. To not get overwhelmed when it doesn’t workout. I need to adjust my mindset & call myself out on my BS & my negative attitude. . I need to learn to do all these things so I can keep pushing the needle forward rather than letting the day get the best of me. . . Take your day one step at a time, drop expectations, work with what you have & let go of what is out of your control. . .
