Tonight accountability selfie. As my eye is still healing and personally don't like doing high impact cardio with my glasses on. I went out this morning for a brisk walk. Just me and my playlist, and crisp morning air. 15 days left of antibiotic eye drops, and to getting my contact lens back. Not that I'm counting 😉 Time to be a bad a$$ with a great a$$. Tuesday's I go horse riding so Tuesday workout will always go to Wednesday. Wenesday to Thursday etc. And sunday I gave other commitments so sundays workout I'll do monday. My gym has a body scan machine available for members to use, and I’m really anxious to show numbers here, but for context and transparency I’m going to leave them visible. I was hesitant to use it, and I’m still not sure whether it’s a helpful or unhelpful tool, but I definitely found the information it provided surprising and really interesting. It almost challenges my perspective of my body, highlights the likelihood of dysmorphia in what I’m seeing vs what is really there. And my fitness level, and lean mass vs fat mass almost makes me more inclined to treat my body better, to work to maintain and keep improving it in a healthy manner. Still navigating the balance of not overdoing it, not obsessing over numbers and results, and trying to nourish my body in order to actually carry out the exercise I want to pursue. Bit overwhelming at times. DON'T MAKE THESE FAT LOSS MISTAKES by @muneebmashadi.fitness • Some of the things I will talk about here are more of misconceptions than they are mistakes because a lot of people confuse one thing for anther. So hopefully this will clear everything up. • When people say "weight loss" what they mean is fat loss. Because you don't want to lose lean body weight. The more of that you have the better. • So instead of relying on the scale, measure your body fat %. A skin fold test is a very accurate way of doing that if you can invest in a skin fold caliper and enter the numbers in an online calculator. • The scale will only show you your total weight. If it goes up, you might have gained muscle. But people still freak out because they think they gained fat. • If you are already healthy and want to maintain your weight, junk food in moderation is okay. But NOT if you are losing weight. Something I heard a while back which makes a lot of sense is "would it be okay for a recovering alcoholic to drink in moderation?" • Calories is not the only thing that matters. It's also where they are coming from like protein, carbs, and fats. You can eat nothing but carbs all day and say "I hit my goal calories for today". It doesn't work that way. • You highly recommend weight lifting even if you don't want to become a bodybuilder, eating a bare minimum 1g of protein / lb. of body weight, and be in a slight caloric deficit. • The last thing is giving up too soon. You need to give it AT LEAST 60 days of consistency before you see any dramatic change. Two weeks are not enough.
