A lot of times we think the wider my grip the wider my lats will be, and granted I did think that at one point as well. . However over time working on my pull ups and lat activation, removing less tension from my arms and more into my back I have learned that a wider grip works more of your forearms, and biceps.🧐 . Check out my IGTV video on this to see where your hands should go!👍🏼🙋🏻‍♂️ . I had spent a couple years doing pull ups at the park everyday only to discover that my arms grew and my back did not. The lat pull down machine is a great tool to use lighter loads to develop proper form and muscle activation in the correct areas in the vertical pull. . Think of pulling with your elbows into your sides and really squeezing, and focusing on feeling your lats work, and fatigue. . Go light and with a slow tempo to start to really get your mind focused on your lats. Hold every pull for about 3-4 seconds before slowly going back up. Touch bar to your clavicle with shoulders down and back!👍🏼 . Aim for 12-15 reps for 3-4 sets, eventually using this method you can add some load to the machine, and you will soon naturally have a strong muscle recruitment in your lats and progress in your pull ups!💪🏼 .
