#FernFriday! Two different cliffbrake ferns (Pellaea sp.) growing at different points on the same trail. Bird’s foot fern (Pellaea mucronata var. mucronata) is recognizable by the mucro (sharp point) on each segment (1-zoom in a bit if you can’t see them). Coffee fern (Pellaea andromedifolia) looks similar but lacks the mucro (2). The leaves are green when new but darken with age (3).
