Today was my first trip to the BINS! WHAT?! I did it and I went alone! 😱
For awhile I have been watching people show off their finds that they picked up at the bins and I’m like I don’t know if I can do it, while secretly researching where one is near me. Unfortunately every time I looked it up, it would show the address for the regular Goodwill I weekly shop at and their prices are NOT by the pound! I chocked it up to internet error until Saturday, when I had to go back to have a sensor removed from a pair of boots I bought the day before, and I noticed the sign at the end of the building on my way out! 🤯 I know....I’m blind right!? So I made a plan to go today, because they were closed on Sunday. It’s crazy, but I have never been so nervous or excited to go shopping before! I’ve read so many horror stories and tips about the bins so I thought I was prepared, But I wasn’t! So here’s the run down..........
🔺I brought rubber gloves and that was all the precautions I followed. 🤦🏼♀️🔺All of the shopping carts were already taken, so I had to hold everything I found. 🔺There were strict lines and crazy shoppers. I blinked and the entire row of bins with purses were empty after the employees said Go. 😳🔺I was expecting shallow bins, not laundry carts of clothes to go through. It was a little like I was going through a hotels dirty laundry. 🔺I read a lot of them have a bad odor or chemical smell, but it actually didn’t smell bad at all.....at first. Then I went near people that needed deodorant. (Thinking: I can get through this) Then I started sorting clothes. (And sneezing a lot) Fast forward a hour later and I felt like I was going to pass out. There was some underlining smell of something that gave me the worst headache and made me want to throw up and I had to leave! 🤢
🔺Final Total: 4 things $2.55
Maybe I didn’t have a large enough breakfast. Maybe I was overwhelmed by the chaos. Maybe there was a gas leak and no one should have been shopping in there! I don’t know, but I will be back. This time on a full stomach and with back up. And maybe a mask! 😆 #Isurvivedthebins
